1.  Welcome to Petty Officer Leadership Academy (POLA) Training to be held at Florida Youth Encampment in Groveland, FL from Sunday, July 3rd through Saturday, July 9th, 2016. Your week of training will be spent studying and learning how to be an effective leader and a mentor. You will be interacting with the cadets from NLCC Advanced and may be called upon to assist with teaching a class.

2.  Enclosure (2) is a list of uniform items and other necessities you will need to bring. In keeping with the USNSCC/USNLCC Regulations, no use of cigarettes, alcohol or drugs will be allowed. Do not bring knives or weapons of any kind. Use and possession of these items will result in you being quickly removed from this training at your parents’/guardians’ expense at any time of the day or night. Bring everything on the sea bag list. If it’s not on the list, DO NOT BRING IT! NO EXCEPTIONS!

3.  Please MAPQUEST your own directions from your departure site to 4645 Baptist Island Road, off County Road 33, in Groveland, Florida, Zip 34736. Look for the “Florida Youth Camp” sign. If you are traveling from the south end of County Road 33, the camp is on your right. If you are traveling from the north end of County Road 33, the camp is on your left. ALL arrivals must be on Sunday, 03 July between 0900 and 1100. Eat breakfast or lunch before you arrive. Berthing will be in open-bay, A/C barracks. Uniform of the Day for arrival is Jumper Whites. Covers should be Dixie cups for males and Combination Covers for females.

4.  You and a parent or guardian MUST sign Enclosure (1) and either mail them back to me, or bring them with you to the training. If you or your parents/guardians have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me, before 2200(10 PM) during the week. You may also e-mail me at anytime.

5.  Graduation will be on Saturday, 09 July at 1100 (11 AM). Parents, family and friends are strongly encouraged to attend the graduation ceremony. Look for directional signs once you enter the campground.
