Materials

Students are required to bring a three ring binder with dividers to class everyday in order to work on organizational skills. This binder must have 5 dividers labeled Class Info, Journal, Notes, Assignments, and Study Guides. Students who save all major assignments until the end of the semester will be far more successful on the final exam than those who do not. The binder also accounts for about 10% of their overall grade.

Grading Policy

Grades will be assessed in the following manner: Homework 40%, Projects/Tests 40%, Final Exam 10% and Class Participation 10%. Tests are difficult in order to prepare students for the state tests. I recommend studying at least 1-2 hours before every test. Studying will be far more productive if students break up this time over several days prior to the test. Studying should involve completing the study guide, reviewing notes on Blackboard or from their binder, reviewing homework assignments that have been passed back, and studying old warm ups.

Attendance

Students’ bodies must be through the threshold of the door by the time the bell stops ringing or they will be marked tardy. It is the students’ responsibility to collect missing work on their own time and turn it in to me within one day for each day that they missed. If you know that your son or daughter is going to be absent in the future, whether it be for health reasons, hunting, or vacation, let me know at least three days in advance of their final day in school to receive the work they will miss. Students who are not in school on a regular basis will more than likely not pass my class. See the student handbook or the district website for more information on attendance. Students who are not in school on a regular basis will more than likely not pass my class.

Homework
Any work that is turned in after being collected by the teacher is considered late. Work will be accepted late at 50% of the total grade. Late homework will not be accepted after the assignment has been graded and handed back to students who did complete the assignment.Large projects and essays will be accepted at any time up to two weeks before the end of the trimester.

Extra Credit

Extra credit is only available to those who have completed 80% of their assignments. I reserve the right to deny anyone extra credit based on behavioral, participation, or attendance issues. See me for more information on extra credit opportunities.

Extra Help

If students need extra help or do not understand, please have them come and see me. It is my job to see that they live up to their full potential and it is up to them to let me know how I can help. I am almost always available after school for help. If this time is not suitable, call me or have them see me to arrange another time.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism (copying or using someone else’s words or ideas and pretending they are one’s own original work) will result in a “0” on the assignment cheated and the last assignment for which credit was given for all persons involved.
