Uploading your OWEB funded or Oregon Plan related documents, data files, GIS files, maps, pictures, etc…

You will upload your files to the Data Clearinghouse ( The Data Clearinghouse is administered and maintained by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Natural Resources Information Management Program(NRIMP). The Data Clearinghouse provides a centralized accumulation and distribution service for Oregon Plan related natural resource information. It houses reports, data files, databases, GIS files, maps, and other natural resource information.

General Steps

  1. Have the file(s) to be uploaded ready,
  2. in an electronic format
  3. Individual files must be less than 35 MB
  4. The file name cannot contain any symbols
  5. Contact information and metadata in hand
  6. If you are a new user, go to the Data Clearinghouse website and Create an Account.
  7. Download or obtain the “Data Clearinghouse Record Creation Manual”
  8. From NRIMP staff

  10. Read the manual.
  11. Log-in, go to My Records and “Add a New Record”
  12. Create metadata and attributes for the record.
  13. Upload file(s).
  14. When metadata, attributes, and uploads are complete – finalize the record.
  15. Take a screen shot of your “My Records” page for OWEB. To do this:
  16. Click the “alt” and “Print Scrn” buttons on your keyboard.
  17. Paste the screen shot into a document.
  18. Your record will be quality checked by the NRIMP Data Analyst
  19. If the record is complete, it will be approved.
  20. After approval your record will be visible on the Data Clearinghouse – search for it!!

To Obtain an Account

  1. Go to the Data Clearinghouse website
  2. Click on Create an Account
  3. Enter all information and click Save
  4. Alternately, Contact NRIMP’s Data Analyst:
  5. Jake Chambers – (541) 757-5231
  6. Please provide your first and last name, and your email address.
  7. After providing your personal information, your username and password will be created as follows:
  8. Your username will be set as the email address provided.
  9. Your password will be set as the word you choose, or if your password was set by NRIMP staff if will be your last name followed by the first letter of your first name
  10. For example – BliesnerK for Kasey Bliesner.
  11. If you would like a different username or password, please contact NRIMP staff

If you forget your password or to change your password

  1. Go to the Data Clearinghouse website (
  2. Under the log-in space, click… Forgot your password?
  3. Enter the email address used when your account was set up and click the Send button.
  4. A new password will be emailed to you
  5. Check the Remember Me box so the website remembers your username and password

Contact the Data Analyst (Jake Chambers – )if:

  1. You forget your username
  2. You need your password reset
  3. You need the “Record Creation Manual”
  4. You need help creating a record and/or uploading files
  5. You need Data Clearinghouse records transferred to a new owner
  6. You have suggestions for the manual, website, or Data Clearinghouse
