EMM Enrollment for
Upgrade or Replacement
iOS Devices
When you purchase a new iPhone, frequently a technician at the store will offer to transfer your information from your old iPhone to your new one. This convenience copies over all of your applications, photos, and even settings onto the new device.
However, to keep your iPhone secure and prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data on the Washington University network, AirWatch gets reset when it is copied from one device to another. The AirWatch MDM Agent that you installed when your device was first added to the AirWatch system will copy over, and does not need to be downloaded again. Though your new iPhone will need to be enrolled into the AirWatch system. The instructions below will guide you through the process.
First, locate the AirWatch icon and Tap the icon to launch the App.
If you do not have an AirWatch icon, this may be the wrong instruction document for your situation. Instead, refer to the iOS EMM Enrollment Proccess document.
You should see the initial enrollment screen similar to the one to the right.
If your screen differs, your device may already be enrolled into AirWatch. Contact your IT Helpdesk for assistance.
If the screen does match the one on this page, Select “Continue without email address”.
Enter mdm.wusm.wustl.edu as the server and your domain (i.e. medpriv, wudosis, wuda, etc.) as the Group ID
Press "Continue" to proceed.
Enter your username and password in the fields presented. These will be the same as your domain (i.e. MEDPRIV) login information.
Press “Continue”to proceed.
Select from the pull-down menu, who owns the device.
Options are:
- Corporate Dedicated –A devices purchased by Wash U, but used exclusively by one individual. An example would be a work provided mobile phone.
- Corporate Shared –A device purchased by Wash U and shared by multiple users. An example would be a tablet device that is shared across the department, or a mobile phone used for an on-call rotation.
- Employee Owned –A personal device purchased by an employee or student that would like to use it to access the WUSM-Secure network.
iOS allows device management by installing a management profile –click “Install”when prompted.
It will display a message about the profile being unsigned. –click “Install Now”
If you already have a passcode set for your device, you’ll be prompted for it to continue.
iOS will display a prompt about the permissions being granted to manage the device –click “Install”
We are only using the permissions that allow us to ensure your device complies with existing Wash U Policy
The next dialog should inform you that the profile has been installed –click “Done”
AirWatch will declare the enrollment process has completed.
The rest of your settings, such as your lock screen passcode, should have transferred over with the rest of your data, so those steps of the enrollment process will be skipped.
This should complete the enrollment of your new device.
