Updates and changes to Activities in the Comprehensive Plan for Youth Conference 2011 6/27/11

Fill in the Space – Steph

Use the 100 ft rope to mark boundaries, it is the blue rope

Duct Tape Game-All Facilitators

A youth will be duct taped to the wall. The group decides who. We’re looking for a volunteer youth. No forcing allowed, Facilitators watch for this. Also make sure their clothing is appropriate for it. We will be standing the duct tape person on a step stool, not a chair. The only question we will use (the answer is to be written on the tape) is, What can I do to support and/or strengthen my friends?

Duct taped youth only has to be suspended for 1 minute.

Faith Crawl (in RPL)-Emmy & Kevin

Once the youth has crawled across the stream they are to recite the #13 Article of Faith. This is their 2011 YMYW theme so all should know it. We do have one nonmember boy who will be attending. His name is Ivan. Someone on his team could recite it for him and if others don’t know it all the way through they could get help from their team. Use your best judgment.

King Lamoni’s Sheep (RPL)- Brian N.

We were not able to find the bags we were hoping for so we are using tubs. Youth will pull and push them in place of the bags. All else should be the same.

Title of Liberty-All Facilitators

Display the questions on the camp tables or post on a tree for all to reference. These and leather (leather-like paper) will be at the InfoCenter for Facilitators to pick up. Explain to youth to write the answer on their piece of leather and to stick them in their lanyard or pocket for later.

Web of Faith-Brian T. & Cassy

Before you gather youth on one side of the web be sure to sit and read the scripture first.

Can add: Matthew 8:16 Christ healed ALL who were sick; not just some of the sick.

Possible debrief questions:

What happens to you as you take someone else to be healed?

What was it like being the infirmed one? How could this relate to your current circumstances at home?

Friendship Over the Meuse-Kevin & Brian T.

We will have two extra boards in case of breakage. You can keep them away from the game until/if you need them. A rope will also be with your game equipment to rope off the area to make the game more clear as we discussed at the training. Pres. Johnson is worried about the precarious placement of the cinder blocks. Please watch for potential falls and spot accordingly.

A question I never got to in the training debrief that you may wish to use is:

Who was “between” Jonathan & David forever? 1 Samuel 20:23.

I love this concept and wondered if you’d like to bring it up. You decide.

Ites Game/Capture the Flag-All Facilitators

We will call this game “Capture the Flag” when referring to it before the game. So please call it this if talking to the youth about it before it takes place. We don’t want them to know that they are gathering teams for war until after they have done it (like in the scrips) on Friday night. (Part of debrief after the game)

Each team will have blue or green glow in the dark necklaces. WL, Facilitators, and stake leaders will have yellow. All leaders don’t necessarily have to have a glow necklace. We only purchased 30. So if you’d like to observe without a glow stick you may, you choose.
