Background

UNODC’s Regional Office for South Asia (ROSA) is recruiting a Content and Web developer with excellent writing skills, a good understanding of the domain of UNODC’s mandate and solid grasp of development issues, an ability to work with a diverse set of clients, and an enormous amount of creative energy with good visualisation skills. The chief responsibility of this position is to effectively communicate the UNODC’s work online.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision and guidance of the Representative, and in coordination with the Communications and Advocacy Officer, the incumbent will manage all aspects of the Web site's content development and publishing. This will include planning and conceptualizing of new content and products and the review and improvement of existing site areas and publish them on the web, using our customized CMS (Content Management System).

Responsibilities include the following:

1.  Provide editorial oversight on multimedia products and Web site community areas.

2.  Play a lead role in management and development of UNODC ROSA Website, s/he will

  1. Responsible for the adaptation of the current website as per the UNODC specifications;
  2. Identify content areas on the public site in need of further development;
  3. Work with project professionals and partners of the ROSA to plan and write new content for site areas;
  4. Take advantage of the web's interactive capabilities in designing new websites/sub-sites or overhauling existing ones;
  5. Plan and coordinate other online efforts to improve ROSA relations and image.

3.  Work closely with project professionals to

  1. Ensure that content is of good quality, accurate, cleared by the representative or the deputy representative and maintains consistent messaging across the site;
  2. Identify the graphics, tables, and photographs to support content on the site.

4.  Transform inputs provided by various projects to appropriate information pages or hyperlinks to and from the UNODC ROSA website.

5.  Keep website’s content and hyperlinks up-to-date.

6.  Prepare a development road map marked by achievable monthly milestones.

7.  Provide training support on existing website content management to author-contributors and the concerned staff of UNODC ROSA.

8.  Implement programming features like shared e-space, data collection through the website, creating community on the site.

9.  Perform other activities as requested.

Required Skill Sets and Experience

·  Master's Degree, plus minimum five years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent, in a similar profile.

·  Experience in writing and editing skills for the Web and on strategic and qualitative issues.

·  Proven writing and editing skills in English, with an ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and direct style.

·  Excellent creative thinking and content development skills.

·  Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills;

·  Demonstrated client orientation.

·  Ability to work under stress and multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

·  Skilled at website designing and online editing tools viz. flash, multimedia etc.

·  Ability to make digital content web friendly viz. Video capture, editing and streaming

·  Skilled at using Content Management Systems

·  Proven ability of Search engine optimization

Languages
For this position excellent spoken and written English is required; knowledge of the local language is desirable.
