Summary of Changes to the CA 21 May 2014

These changes are have been made as result of the 2011 bargaining round were TEU and Unitec agreed to set a working party to consider ‘simplifying’ in the wording in the of the CA. This work has now been completed as part of the 2013/2014 bargaining round. The changes are now part of the proposed new collective agreement, along with the proposed settlementoutlined in the advocates report dated 21 May. The whole new collective agreement is now subject to ratificationon ballot.

Below is a summary of the changes in the proposed agreement that have been approved by the TEU and Unitec.

PART 1 / COVERAGE AND APPLICATION OF AGREEMENT
1. / Parties
1.1 / Minor wording change / For consistency, so each party is referred to by name.
To avoid any confusion about which party is being referred to at any given point in the CA.
2. / Coverage
1.2 / 1.2 Renaming “part time” to “hourly paid in the entire collective and references from para 2. / Previously referred to as ‘part-time’ positions. Hourly paid is used as is a more accurate reflection of what that type of work is.
