#1 NEW BUSINESS BROUCHURE

You have been hired by the Georgia Dept. of Economic Development to create an informational brochure that will be displayed at business conferences across the nation. The objective of this promotional drive is to attract more businesses to relocate to Georgia and benefit Georgia’s workforce by describing the benefits of a region’s economy, culture, and development.
Your job is to research one of the five geographic regions within the state of Georgia as assigned to you. The format will consist of pictures which represent ONE of the regions of Georgia. RESEARCH your chosen region, and find information listed below (USE THIS CHEKLIST):
Landforms ____natural resources____ economic activity____ population____climate____ and physical features______. Sources for your research are listed below.
Collect pictures representative of your region. Next, create a table, graph, or chart to display the information (such as, population, climate, natural resources, economic activities) you gathered in your research. Write a short written summary about your region’s history____physical features (i.e., rivers, lakes, mountains)______, and entertainment activities____.
Write a slogan for your region you that relates the geography and the economy. For example, historically, the New England colonies were also called the “fish basket.” Their location and climate dictated the primary economic activities: fishing and ship building. Write your own slogan for your Georgia region. Your brochure should be original and “eye-catching” to motivate other people to relocate to the great state of Georgia.

#2 TOURISM BROUCHURE

You have been hired by the Georgia Tourism Board to create an informational brochure that will be displayed at all rest stops along Georgia’s interstate system. The objective of this promotion is to attract more people to vacation in Georgia by describing a region of Georgia and one physical feature in that region (Okefenokee Swamp, Chattanooga and Savannah Rivers, Fall Line, Appalachian Mountains, Stone Mountain, and barrier islands etc.) Focus on the benefits of recreation and relaxation.
Research at least one physical feature within the region. The format will consist of pictures that represent the region and physical features. Things you can include: landforms____, natural resources ____, legitimate recreational activities____, climate (include average temperatures each season) ____ and other physical features nearby____.
Collect pictures of your physical feature and region to use in your brochure. Next, create a table, chart or graph to display the information (i.e., seasonal temperatures, natural resources, recreational activities) you gathered in your research. Included with the collage and table of information should be a short written summary about your physical feature’s history ___, nearby or related land features ___, and recreational and entertainment activities ___.
Write a slogan for the physical feature/region you are promoting which relates geography to vacation opportunities. For example, historically, the New England colonies were also called the “fish basket.” Their location and climate would attract people who enjoy fishing and learning about the history of ship building. Come up with a similar slogan or term for your physical feature. It should be original and “eye-catching” to motivate people to vacation in the great state of Georgia.
