TRAINING LEARN AND SHARE SESSIONS ENCOUNTER REPORTING CHANGES FOR FY17

Under the auspices of EDIT (Encounter Data Integrity team) a workgroup was formed about 18 months to tackle a number of data reporting issues associated with some key services. Inconsistency on use of codes and pricing of codes across the CMH system has been seen as a problem for many years. It is also recognized that there has been significant turnover in staff across the system resulting in a lack of knowledge and background on services and codes. In addition, “answers” have appeared through numerous channels. The workgroup efforts have resulted in a set of documents that go into details on various services. These documents will become attachments in the DHHS “PIHP/CMHSP Reporting cost per Code and Code Chart” document which is the sole “source of truth” about codes approved for use by the CMH system by the state. This document is located on the DHHS web page under Keeping Michigan Healthy/Behavioral health and Developmental Disability/Reporting Requirements.
These changes are to go into effect October 1, 2016 though both contractual language and through updated version of the PIHP/CMHSP Reporting Cost per Code and Code Chart document. These two Learn and Share sessions are planned to go over these changes. The first session on June 14, 2016 at the James B. Henry Center for Executive Development in Lansing will cover all of the topics and required changes. The second session on June 28, 2016 will go into more details, especially with respect to reporting/pricing residential services, and provide opportunity to raise operational questions with respect to how to implement all these changes for the new fiscal year.
