RAP MEETING MINUTES

March 23, 2016

Nancy called the meeting to order at 5:35 PM. Nancy welcomed members and thanked them for coming. Coffee and pastry were served.

I. Administrator’s Report

J.T. asked rap members to support magnet school funding by writing to their state reps.

J.T. said he would create a page for RAP in the yearbook using existing photos.

April 27 is Administrative Assistants Day. Tracy will order food for a special lunch for office staff, security and custodial staff.

II President’s Report

The Scholarship Walk is a 3-mile walk to be held on Friday May 13, 2016. This event is supported by RAP and all funds raised are used for senior scholarships. Nancy encouraged everyone to find sponsors. Some companies will match gifts. For more information contact Nancy Pereau for scholarship sponsor forms. Refreshments for the walkers were discussed. There will be ice tea, water, cans of fruit and food can be purchased from Restaurant Depot in Hartford. Scholars are asked to pay a minimum of $5.00 and adults can contribute $15.00. Class of 2016 seniors planning to attend college can find more information about applying for a scholarship on the CTRA web pages under RAP. J.T. said he could assist Nancy with the application that needs to be sent to the Town of East Hartford.

When the scholarship applications are turned in Shelby McIntire said she would collect the applications and turn over to Lisa Aponte, Anna, Gina Maureen and Rhonda for review.

The End of Year Picnic will be held on June 3, from 11:30 to 3:00. Food items and entertainment was discussed. We will be rent a snow-cone machine, dunk tank, DJ, and inflatable rock wall. Some item will come from Mad Tents. Parent participation is needed to set up, prepare food in advance and clean up. Shelby McIntire will help organize games this year. Mr. Parsons usually donate chips and we will need coolers for ice. Donette Martin will make chicken. Olga Perez said she will made to trays of rice and beans.

May 24th is the Music and Arts Gallery night to be held from 4-8. Rap will provide crackers and cheese and cider. Parents can also donate food by contacting Nancy Pereau.

III. Secretary’s Report

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The correct date for Administrative Assistants day is April 27.

IV. Treasurer’s Report

The previous balance for February was 3,882.73. New money has been received from Monson Candy Drive and will be reported at the next meeting. Proceeds from the Munson drive were approximately $900.00.

Other Business

J.T. said the cost of tickets for the prom will be about $60.00 - $65.00 and will go on sale after in April. Prom is May 28 at the Glastonbury Country Club. RAP is still deciding if they will donate to the prom for early bird tickets.

J.T. Foster has been sending a newsletter called CTRA School News each Friday. Please check that you are receiving CTRA School News.

In the Heights will be performed at the Wadsworth Athenaeum this year on May 6 & 7. The cost per ticket will be $5.00 per person. Help is still needed for set-building costumes, or finding or making other items. A list will be sent soon to see what is needed and where help can be used.

Lands end will sell uniforms for CTRA students. Watch for sales or use your Sears point.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:50 PM. Tracy donated a box of Munson candy and a raffle was held. The next meeting date will be April 20, 2016 at 5:30 P.M. and the last meetings will be May 18, 2016.
