TERMS OF REFERENCE

  1. To have a named Chair or co-Chairs.
  2. To meet at least three times a year, to undertake the work required and ensure its progress.
  3. To prepare an agenda for each meeting and brief minutes/action points of the meeting.
  4. To provide these minutes/points to the Clerk of the School’s GEG.
  5. To draw-up a project plan to complete each annual cycle of work within the required timeframe, for the next three years.
  6. Annually in January, collect and interpret gender-sensitive issues on:
  7. BVMS and BSc/MSci students, by gender: numbers; full-time and part-time numbers1, degree classification5, applications offers and acceptances2
  8. PGT students by gender: numbers; full-time and part-time numbers; applications, offers, and acceptances1; degree classification5;

benchmarking data with other universities providing similar courses and reporting to the GEG in May of each year.

  1. To present data to the SSLC for discussion and feedback on an annual basis. (AP:1.1)
  2. To ensure the Athena SWAN log in visible on all course moodle sites in September, annually. (AP:1.4)
  3. Review all degree literature for gender sensitivity in October annually. (AP:4.1)
  4. Report on support and training provided to both UG and PGT students on career progression6.
  5. Consider what actions are needed for Masters students who may wish to progress to PhD studies.6-for silver we need to provide commentary on supporting career transitions of students
  6. Collect data on admissions panels by gender and identify any gender biases in February annually5.(AP:4.2)
  7. Prompt all admission panels members to complete Equality and Diversity and Unconscious Bias training and report on completion rates to GEG in March of each year. (AP:4.5)1
  8. Report on staff involvement in open days by gender to GEG in January of each year5.
  9. Survey staff on an annual basis to, explicitly ask for any outreach activities undertaken in the last 12 months, and if within school settings, the type of school e.g. comprehensive, private, grammar, single-sex6.
  10. To provide a written report updating on these actions, and any others the working group has identified and acted upon, with recommendations to the Clerk of the School’s GEG in December of each year.
