U16 All Girls Cricket Competition

RULES and MATCH INFORMATION

GENERAL:

Based on Under14 Girls Regional pathway rules.

Matches are 24 overs per innings.

First named team in draw is the home team.

Each team to bring their own scorebook.

The SDCCL inclement weather rules apply for extreme heat and rain*.

Players to bring their own snacks and drinks.

A minimum of 7 players is required on the ground to start a match.

GROUND SETUP:

Pitch to be shortened at one end by 1.22 metres (4 feet). Use cones or masking tape to mark this crease (not chalk).

The boundary is to be marked by cones at 45 metres from the centre of the wicket.

The home team is to provide:

Stumps, Boundary cones, Scoreboard, First aid kit and ice bags (in case of injury).

TIMING:

Games to start at 5pm. Games that don’t start at scheduled time to be deducted 1 over per 4 mins each pro rata. i.e. a 5.30pm start would mean a 20 over per side game (as agreed by coaches/team managers). If there is no start by 5.30pm, the game is a forfeit by the team who is not able to start.

10 minute break between innings which must be adhered to.

Batters to be ready to take to the field immediately at the fall of a wicket to encourage quicker over rate.

By agreement there is an SDCCL provision for coaches/team managers to play a 10 over spell at each end to encourage quicker over rate.

UMPIRING/SCORING:

Other than a spin ball, waist high full toss is a no ball

Once the ball lands past half way, it cannot bounce more than twice before it reaches the batter’s stumps, otherwise it is a no ball

Batters must retire at either 4 overs or 25 runs (whichever is first). If all other batters are dismissed, any batter who retired at 25 can return in order first, then others below the score in order of retirement.

Bowlers can only bowl a maximum of 2 overs; pro rata for sides with less than 12 players shared equally.

6 legitimate balls must be delivered in the last over of every innings of every match.

No LBWs.

10 wicket rule to apply to score book. i.e. scoring stops at loss of 10 wickets (and game continues, time permitting, until overs are completed).

EQUIPMENT:

Match balls shall be a 142g ball as determined by the SDCCL Executive committee.

Protective equipment is compulsory. Helmet, batting pads, batting gloves, protector and thigh pads to be worn by batters. Helmet, keeping pads and keeping gloves to be worn by wicket keepers.

No fielder forward of the batter shall be positioned closer than half a pitch length at the moment of delivery.

Match balls shall be supplied by each side for their own bowling innings. The SDCCL encourages match balls to be used for two matches.

MYCRICKET:

The home team must enter match results by 9am Thursday after the game. Teams must enter player scores by 9pm Friday after the game.

* Extreme heat policy as per League by law 16.5(b): no scheduled evening match will commence if the temperature has reached 35 degrees celsius by 4.00pm (temperatures broadcast on Melbourne Radio 774 ABC will be taken as the official temperature for this by-law). There is no written policy regarding rain. Clubs attend and decide if play can take place. Clubs can contact each other by phone and call off by mutual agreement. If there is no agreement, attendance is required. The League is to be notified by phone of any mutual agreement for cancellation.
