Type of Meeting:Special Business Meeting
Date:July 8, 2014
Place:High School Cafeteria
Members Present:President, William Peoples, Jr., Trustees Michelle Terwilliger, Amanda Stuart, Brian Crane, Michael Knapp, Mary Beth Grace and Brian Herrington
Others:Superintendent Joseph DioGuardi, District Clerk Mary Berkan, Middle-High School Principal Jennifer Crane and Business Administrator Ken Forrester
Guests:Haley & Jerry Grace, Mary Clark, Bob England
After a 5 minute recess at the end of the Re-Organization Meeting, President
Peoples asked for a motion to approve the agenda for the Business Meeting. Trustee
Terwilliger made the motion and Trustee Stuart seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Superintendent DioGuardi reviewed the 2014-2015 BOE meeting schedule
with the Board.
President Peoples then turned the meeting over Superintendent DioGuardi
who proceeded to ask Construction Manager Barry Church to give an update on the
progress of the project. He said the water line had now been re-located; new storm
drains were in place, the tennis courts were now gone at the high school and the
General Trades will start next week.
At Tuscarora, work is being started for the new parking; the light poles were
removed and the asbestos abatement is started in the 2nd floor. He then explained that
there was a problem with cracks on tennis courts and the contractor doing the courts at
the high school recommend resurfacing the 3 old courts, would be less costly and then
would have to lose a play season, as well as time to re-bid. At Valley, the roofing
replacement should be finished early August.
During the Discussion part of the agenda, Mr. DioGuardi handed out a copy of
the end of the year Food Service report which noted a $21,723 gain for the year;
he reviewed a couple of changes to the back of the agenda that had previously been
discussed. He then reported that there had been a problem the previous Thursday
with regard to the air conditioning for the network computer systems and with all that
had been encountered over some time now, we were wanting to transition from Trane to
Day Automation.
Middle-High School Principal, Ms. Crane, reported that the summer school was
being held at Campbell-Savona school with 93 students; our Driver Education program
has 25 students and we also have a summer Literacy program going on this summer.
