Transformative Leadership for Times of Change

REC & Liturgy Coordinators Conference

February 25-26, 2010

The annual REC and Liturgy Coordinators Conference is on Thursday, February 25 and Friday, February 26 of this Term. The Conference provides an opportunity for personal and professional reflection, as well as a wonderful opportunity for building effective networks with colleagues. The Conference contributes to building the leadership capacity of the REC and Liturgy Coordinator Networks and it remains a significant component of professional development. This year we will be enjoying the hospitality of ‘The Hermitage’ at Mittagong (a map with directions is attached).

The conference theme is Mission Possible - Transformative Leadership for Times of Change and draws its inspiration from our baptismal call to mission highlighted in the Gospel manifesto ‘to bring good news’ to all. We, who are involved in the adventure of Catholic schooling, are called to exercise leadership which challenges the ‘way we do business’ while promoting our ‘reason for being’ – our mission. The conference will focus on leadership which is reflective and which critically engages with the richness of the Catholic tradition in building up the Body of Christ in our school communities.

We are most fortunate to have as our conference facilitator Kate Englebrecht, the Director of Mission Possible Education. Kate has experience in mission leadership in both the education and health sectors. Kate is well known as a passionate educator and dedicated learner with a gift for articulating what matters and challenging the way we think and act. The centrality of relationships is at the heart of Kate’s work and her process-oriented and reflective approach will engage us with each other and with what we hold to be central to our identity. The Conference will offer opportunity for:

Focus

§  Exploring the concept of transformative leadership in dialogue with the richness of our spiritual tradition.

§  Responding to change and growth with emphasis on building a Christ-centred and people-centred culture.

§  Building transformational potential and capacity for rearticulating and integrating mission into all dimensions of school.

§  Reflecting on the centrality of relationships to effective mission leadership.

We have been asked by Bishop Peter to create an opportunity for a Diocesan Pastoral Planning Consultation during the afternoon of the Friday of the Conference. Your attendance at this session is optional, but we have been asked by Bishop Peter and Peter Turner to give high priority to the pastoral planning processes across the Diocese. Your valuable insight as a religious leader in a Catholic school is an essential dimension and a key contribution to guiding the Church in the journey ahead. Your presence at this consultation gathering would be most appreciated.

Please remember to register for the Conference through ESS. To assist with our own organisation please return the attached FAX form signed by your Principal to Anne Dal Santo on FAX 4253 0859 by Monday 15 February. Relief funding is provided for all staff from systemic schools and the full cost of accommodation, meals and facilitator fees are met by the Catholic Education Office for all participants.

If you have any other questions regarding the Conference, do not hesitate to ring me on 42530946 or email .

The CLARE Team looks forward to sharing this experience with you.

Yours in Christ,

Pat
