Technical Requirements

1. Position Accuracy
The localization system shall have an accuracy of +/- 5 cm (2 sigma). The system shall work to the specified accuracy among obstacles such as trees, houses, etc. and in contiguous areas that are not connected or continuous. (i.e. front and back yards)
i. Detailed description of the positioning system (how it would work)
[enter here]
ii. Rationale/Evidence (why it will meet the requirement)
[enter here]
iii. Drawings or Supporting Information
[attach drawings and/or references here]
2. Cost
The system shall cost less than $300 (total direct material) at 100,000 annual volumes.
i. List of materials and cost estimates
[enter here]
ii. Rationale/Evidence (why it will meet the requirement)
[enter here]
iii. Drawings or Supporting Information
[attach drawings and/or references here]
3. Installation
The system will have a minimal installation/setup – install time < 30 minutes.
i. Detailed description of the installation procedure (how it would work)
[enter here]
ii. Rationale/Evidence (why it will meet the requirement)
[enter here]
iii. Drawings or Supporting Information
[attach drawings and/or references here]
4. Calibration
The system will require no more than 1 calibration required per year. Calibration time will take less than 30 minutes.
i. Detailed description of any calibration needed (how it would work)
[enter here]
ii. Rationale/Evidence (why it will meet the requirement)
[enter here]
iii. Drawings or Supporting Information
[attach drawings and/or references here]
5. Maintenance
The system’s maintenance interval will be less than 1 time per year. Maintenance time will take less than 30 minutes.
i. Detailed description of maintenance required (how it would work)
[enter here]
ii. Rationale/Evidence (why it will meet the requirement)
[enter here]
iii. Drawings or Supporting Information
[attach drawings and/or references here]
6. Power
Any device on the machine requiring power, shall be powered via the 24VDC power source on the machine and consume less than 50 watts. The means for powering any device remote from the machine must consist of a design that meets the installation and maintenance requirements.
i. Detailed description of power needed (how it would work)
[enter here]
ii. Rationale/Evidence (why it will meet the requirement)
[enter here]
iii. Drawings or Supporting Information
[attach drawings and/or references here]
7. Measurements
The system shall provide position measurements at greater than 10 Hz.

[enter here]
ii. Rationale/Evidence (why it will meet the requirement)
[enter here]
iii. Drawings or Supporting Information
[attach drawings and/or references here]
8. Coordinates
The system will deliver an (x position, y position, heading angle, ground speed) coordinate. Optional to include roll/pitch and yaw rate to the coordinate solution.
i. Detailed description of positioning information (how it would work)
[enter here]
ii. Rationale/Evidence (why it will meet the requirement)

[enter here]
ii. Rationale/Evidence (why it will meet the requirement)
[enter here]
iii. Drawings or Supporting Information
[attach drawings and/or references here]
10. Operation
The system shall be able to operate greater than 9 hours every day from Spring to Fall under ambient conditions. Optional for the system to be applied to other outdoor robotic applications regardless of the season.
