3.YASI-this training guides participants through a four-step model of effective Case Planning. The first step includes training in the YASI (Youth Assessment Screening Instrument) computerized risk/protective assessment tool as well as skill development in interviewing. The second step aids participants in choosing appropriate interventions, as well as an introduction to a framework to increase client involvement.

5.Cognitive Behavior Training: This Cognitive Behavioral training provides an overview and use of cognitive behavioral methods with high-risk youth. Cognitive Behavioral programs have demonstrated favorable outcomes in reducing recidivism across delinquent and high-risk populations. These programs help clients become aware of the impact of attitudes, values and beliefs on behavior, and they provide clients with the skills and personal strategies necessary to disrupt non-adaptive behavioral patterns.

6.Cultural Competency LGTBQ. When Working With Youth: The term 'culture' encompasses a wide variety of demographics: race/ethnicity, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, etc. Understanding one's culture is imperative when expressing one's thoughts, beliefs and ideologies; understanding your youth client's culture is essential for these same reasons. Oftentimes, however, staffs working with youth are expected to fit each client into the same descriptive and use the same methods, regardless of that client's background.

7.Legal Trainingthis workshop will review the best practice of working with youth and families as it intersects

with the law, and an agency's legal responsibilities. There will be information and discussion at all levels of agency's contact with youth- from crisis intervention, to family reunification, to Minors Requiring Authoritative Intervention (MRAI) and a section about Rights of Minors includes abortion, counseling, temporary living arrangements, etc. A special section will focus on court procedures and how to testify in court.

8.Motivational Interviewing is a directive, client-centered counseling style for eliciting behavior changed by helping clients to explore and resolve ambivalence. Compared with nondirective counseling, it is more focused and goal-directed which allows for more of a partnership. The examination and resolution of ambivalence is its central purpose, and counselor is intentionally directive in pursing this goal.
