Tour of Tweeddale 2017 – Riders Feedback

I just want to say a big thank you to the organisers of today's TOT. It was the best run I have done for ages.

The start point was ideal, the route superb, and the signposting was excellent. Not to mention the lovely food. That lentil soup was delicious.

All this for £20 - compared to £86 for a sportive I did in May.

The beer at then end was a stroke of genius!

Thank you again - I know that an event like that doesn't happen without an awful lot of hard work and a host of volunteers.

I will be back!

This email is just to say that a small group of us from Lothian Cyclists did your 50 mile route today and all thoroughly enjoyed it. We'd mostly done the route before, but were all impressed with the pit stops and the food and drink on offer. And we did appreciate all those people who gave of their time to organise and run this. Please pass on our thanks to all those involved, we'll be back next year. Am now looking forward to the beer... ?

Just a quick note to say a big "thank you" to the marshall and Moto rider at the first food stop for their attention and the doctors at the Gordon Arms for the advice and lift to Borders General Hospital.……….Thanks also to whoever took my bike back to Peebles.

I took part in the 50 miler today and on behalf of Lothian Cyclists would like to pass on my thanks for a well organised event. The volunteers were friendly and the food stops great, soup was a great idea at Gordon Arms.

We will definitely do this again next year.

Food stops on this sportive are always good but I think better than ever this year. Great route, well organised sportive, Thanks hope to be back

Loved it! Please don't change it. Please don't let it get bigger. I loved the local feel of it, and it was so friendly and not too crowded. Perfect as it is. SO much better than all the corporate big money sportives that bring people from far and wide.

Thank you so much

Nothing but positive feedback! Brilliantly organised, excellent stops, wonderful atmosphere. Best event I've been to this year :)

Great sportive - local club does exactly what's needed without the excessive pomp and ceremony. Would do it in preference to the TOB every time.

Thanks again for organising a lovely event and also for making the weather so nice. I took part a couple of years ago and the weather was absolutely glorious then. We didn’t think it could be that good again but it wasn’t far off. The route is lovely down there and all the volunteers doing the stewarding seem so pleasant and friendly and helpful – the human touch makes all the difference in my opinion. I will definitely be looking to come down again in the future and will let people I know through work and cycling that it is well worth a visit.

Another brilliant event yet again. As ever, I love the ambience of this laid-back Sportive. The weather goddesses were kinder than last year, only a couple of dodgy motorists and some good company & chat. The soup was as wonderful as ever. And as for the Tweed Ale - superb idea, a bottle to save with the special label. Went down a treat after 100 miles, just glad I wasn't driving!! Well done everyone who helped put this on.

Great route , great feed stops and a lovely local beer at the finish ...and the rain stayed away ..brilliant!

Love this event, lovely people and atmosphere and not too many lunatics in lycra. Thanks

Not sure what to suggest on how to improve it - it's pretty damn good! Perhaps if you could get the crappy bit of road coming down from Mount Benger resurfaced? :)I already said this to a few people on the day - huge thanks to the motor cycle marshal who materialised with a track pump at the top of Talla just as I was about to screw on my gas cannister! Thanks to all involved!

Feedback? Excellent, everything! I have sore legs and an empty "tank" but that is not your fault, I need to train more. Thanks for a great event and if the dates work out right, I'll be back next year.

A big thank you to all involved for an excellent day out. The event was really well run, the atmosphere friendly andthe Tweed Ale a very nice gesture.

Hi Guys, thank you very much for another lovely day out, (this is the fourth year I’ve done the Tour of Tweeddale, 72 miler the first two years and the 50 miler the last two times). Well worth the entry fee and the trip down from Kirkcaldy. One of the best sportives I do all year, well organised, great feed stations and very friendly folks, what more can you ask for. Managed to get a really quiet spot for my turn on the Talla Linn climb and for the first time managed NOT to get off my bike and get all the way up without stopping, having a 12-36 cassette on my Trek Domane helps tremendously!! At some points was doing less than 3 mph but got there so very chuffed. Thank you for the beer, lovely touch, and thank you to all at PCC for their very hard work.Looking forward to seeing you all next year again all things being equal.

An advantage of the earlier date was seeing the heather hills at their glorious best. Congrats on another superbly organised event.

Took part in the ToT 100 miles yesterday. Must say is one of the best organised and best value in the calendar.Great food, helpers and enthusiasm. Will keep coming back every year.

I thought it was brilliant event yesterday, just how a sportive should be, great value for money, friendly marshals and helpers and amazing feed stations – well done!

Came up from Lancashire to do the ride and it was well worth it. A friendly event, easy to follow, although I did get lost right at the end due to diversions in Peebles. Enough marshals for reassurance. The food was something else! I have never been so well fed on a sportive or any other event for that matter, I was amazed how you could manage to provide such a feast for the very reasonable entry fee. The route itself was challenging without being gruesome, I would imagine the climbs are well within the range of most reasonably fit cyclists, and the final leg home to Peebles is a blast. Overall I would heartily recommend this friendly event to any cyclist. Just one little idea, having the contact number on the front of the rider number card makes it much easier for rider and others to access. Thanks again for a great day. I'm saving the beer for a winters night to remind me of how wonderful summer cycling is.

Difficult to fault the overall organisation of this event.

I did have a little concern at the speed of motor bikes passing the riders at the Gordon Arms feeding station with cyclists wandering over the road to their bikes.

Could more signage be displayed to minimise this risk of possible harm?

This was my first ever Sportive! I had a great time. Everything was so well organised, everyone so very friendly. It was an event I’ll not forget in a hurry – the excitement level was high as we came across a poor guy who had crashed coming down from the Talla ‘Wall’ – eventually airlifted to hospital. Thanks again team, great event.

Thanks for an excellent event (Again). Much better than that big copy-cat event ;)loved the 2 small improvements- finish location, excellent, and much more sociable.- the beer - great stuff. I think the event is excellent as it is, I love it !.Only thing (small) I'd say is Tweedsmuir is too close to the finish/too far from the previous stop, for the 100 route, but I understand its location makes more sense for the 50. We stopped for a coffee in Moffat anyway, which suits us just fine, so I don't think you should change it. keep up the good work.

Wonderful 50 route, well organised, everyone was friendly definitely do this again

Great event, loved the beer hand-out.I rode the 100 miler, good route, good feedstops, well sign-posted route. Also, like the fast posting of results in a format that enables the more competitive to sort them by time.

Excellent ride. Well organised. Fantastic countryside with almost traffic free roads. The 50 miles was engaging without being brutal Would definitely recommend the ride, well done for a fantastic event.

Just a quick note to say thanks for a fantastic sportive!! The event was well organized, route was easy to follow and the feed stations were awesome, and positioned just where we needed them! An all round super-sportive!! I'll definitely e back next year

Ps the free bespoked beer at the end was a nice touch!!
