Top International Speakers at the SOLGM Conference

There are thousands of speakers in the world, but only a few have reached the top levels of the speaking profession. Three of these distinguished speakers will be at the 2010 SOLGM Annual Conference in Queenstown in September.

Amanda Gore, a renowned motivational speaker and best known for her innovative approaches to connect with the audience, was inducted last year to the CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame by the National Speakers Association (NSA).

The Council of Peers Award for Excellence (CPAE) is a lifetime award for speaking excellence and professionalism. Such distinction is given to speakers who have been evaluated by their peers and judged to have mastered seven categories: material, style, experience, delivery, image, professionalism and communication.

“Amanda brought the house down last year in Palmerston North. She was engaging and entertaining, but more importantly her message on emotional intelligence
resonated with everyone in the room. She provided practical and useful tips on leadership which delegates were able to implement as soon as they got back to the office,” David Smith, SOLGM Chief Executive and Conference Convenor.

Steve Simpson is an international speaker who is dubbed by a UK based e-Customer Service World as ‘Australia’s leading corporate culture authority.” Steve is an accredited Certified Speaking Professional (CSP), the highest speaker distinction recognised by the International Federation of Professional Speakers.

The CSP is the speaking profession’s international measure of professional platform skill. The CSP designation is earned through demonstrating competence in a combination of professional platform skills, business management, education and association.

Steve developed the UGR concept which is driving culture change in many organisations. ‘Unwritten Ground Rules’ are people’s perception of ‘the way we do things around here.’ UGRs drive people’s behaviour but are not talked about openly.

Steve Donahue is desert adventurer, master story-teller and a best-selling author. Steve crossed the SaharaDesert and lived to share his tale. He shares inspiring messages to help people find and follow their compass in a changing world.

Steve has a unique ability to engage and captivate audiences. He delivered a very successful presentation to 8,000 financial planners from 85 countries at the Million Dollar Round Table.

“SOLGM is very excited to bring these international speakers together at the conference. We have selected these speakers because they will bring new insights, practical tips and inspiring messages that will be relevant to local government managers.”

The 2010 SOLGM Annual Conference is scheduled on 5-7 September and will be held at the Skyline Gondola and Restaurant in Queenstown. Early bird registration closes on 29 July. For more information, go to
