Progress Interviews

We hope to organise our progress interviews for the middle of March (Tuesday 20th – Friday 23rd). This will be an opportunity to talk to Mrs Hunter/Mrs Edwards about your child’s progress. We will be completing the interviews during the day and in the evening, we will be interviewing on the evening of Tuesday 20th March. You will receive a text in relation to this, please reply to it & indicate the time of the day which suits you best to attend (afternoon 12.45pm – 3pm or evening 6pm – 8pm).

During the interview week school is closed on the Monday (19th March) for St. Patrick’s Day & will close at 12.30pm for the rest of that week (Tuesday – Friday) to facilitate the interviews. The children will get dinner at 12noon before going home.

Invitation to lunch

You are still very welcome to visit to share lunch with your child & their class. Please speak to Mrs Hunter or Mrs Edwards if you would like to arrange a date to do this.

WORLD BOOK DAY 2012

World Book Day 2012 is on Thursday 1st March. As part of our celebrations each child will receive a book & a £1 book voucher.

We are also hosting a special story reading session in school on Thursday evening. The children are invited to bring their Mummy with them to hear Mrs Hunter read a story. The children can wear their pyjamas & dressing gowns & bring a teddy with them. The places for each of the sessions (5.45pm & 6.30pm) were snapped up very quickly but if you are interested in coming please speak to Mrs Hunter as soon as possible & we will try to squeeze you in.

Visit from Phil’s Farm

Phil’s farm is visiting Harrison on Tuesday 28th February. He will be at school all day & the children will be able to meet & touch (if they want to) a wide variety of animals, some farm & some not so farm like – chicks, giant rabbit, pony, lamb, goat, micro pig & a wallaby to name but a few. Take a look at Phil’s website to see photos of some of his animals –

A big thank you to everyone who contributed logs (Aaron & Rachel’s dad, Grace Campbell’s dad & granda & Hannah’s mum) to our new pile. It is looking very inviting to minibeasts to come & live in it!

Also a very special thank you to Joshua’s dad for re-felting the roof of our little house, he has done an amazing job.

The Brown family have very kindly donated a new hen house to school. It has been positioned on the small fenced in grass area in the playground. Mrs Hunter has 3/4 hens who have started to lay & will be coming over to Harrison in the very near future.

Gardening …

Over the next 3 -4 weeks we will be starting to plant vegetables & get our garden tidied up. Would you like to come into school for a morning to help to do any gardening with the children? Speak to Mrs Edwards or Mrs Hunter if you are interested in visiting.

ART EXHIBITION UPDATE

  • Our mod roc volcano continues to evolve, to date 35 different children have been involved in the whole process of creating it – follow our progress on Facebook.
  • We have had our first clay tiles fired in the kiln at LurganJunior High School. We are hoping to oxidise them this week.
  • Over the past week we have been using charcoal to draw with & painting with glass paints.

Visit to Armagh theatre

We are going to Armagh theatre on Tuesday 6th March to see ‘A Spell of Cold Weather.’ This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to visit a theatre & see actors perform on stage. Unfortunately it is another early morning – the performance starts at 10am & we need to be in Armagh for 9.40am (at the latest). All children should be dropped off at school to get straight on to the bus at 8.30am. There will be no dinner on this day & no packed lunch required. The children can be collected from the bus at 12.15pm. The cost associated with this trip is £9 (£5 for the bus & £4 for the ticket). Please speak to Mrs Hunter or Mrs Edwards if you are available to come with us & help on this day.
