Job Title:Employment Support Worker (Work clubs)

Employer:Reach South Sheffield

Based at:Reach Online Centre, 187 Blackstock Road, Sheffield S14 1FX

Hours: 17.5 hours per week over 3 days

Salary: £19,214 pro-rata

Reporting to: Employment Project Coordinator

JOB PURPOSE

Through organised Work clubs, engage and recruit eligible Sheffield residents in South and South West Sheffield who are in receipt of an out of work benefit or economically inactive.

KEY TASK AREAS

  • Undertake an assessment of the individuals employability and personal barriers to work
  • Completing development and action plans with people accepted onto caseload to help match them to suitable jobs and/or promote their job-readiness
  • Manage a caseload and assist clients’ progression towards and into employment
  • Liaising with individuals and agencies who provide support to clients, including IAG services, debt and health / social work professionals as appropriate to individual need
  • Identifying job opportunities and following up leads utilising a variety of sources including websites, newspapers, Jobcentre Plus and employers
  • Improving the job search skills development of clients through coaching in CV preparation, interview techniques, making applications, speculative applications, networking etc
  • Promoting clients and Reach South Sheffield services to employers
  • Negotiating reasonable adjustments with an employer, working within the Equality Act 2010
  • Helping clients prepare for job interviews
  • Helping clients acquire and implement the social/professional skills required to fit in with the work environment
  • Keeping accurate records as required relating to work carried out with clients and maintaining confidentiality
  • Completing documentation for project monitoring purposes, e.g. output analysis, evidence of employment etc, as required
  • Actively engaging in PR activities and initiatives to promote referrals to the project

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Working in partnership with other support providers in progressing the job-readiness of clients
  • Undertaking other duties commensurate with the post
  • To attend team meetings as required

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience & skills / Essential / Desirable
Experience of working with people with significant barriers to the labour market / 
Understanding ofthe problems likely to be faced by people experiencing long term unemployment / 
Proven ability to instruct others through clear advice, guidance, encouragement and positive support / 
Ability to see an individual’s skills, abilities, experience and potential for work, regardless of their circumstances / 
Willingness to work flexibly as part of a small team and on own initiative / 
Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) / 
Understanding of the needs of employers / 
Ability to plan ahead and work creatively with clients to maximise their job related
opportunities / 
Experience of IT software packages (Microsoft Word, Excel, email, internet etc) / 
Able to prioritise and work to tight deadlines / 
Methodical and organised approach to work / 
Experience of recruitment or recruitment agency working practices / 
An understanding of the Equality Act 2010 particularly as it pertains to disability issues and the concept of reasonable adjustments / 
