Service/Department Description
MindWise supported housing services provide safe and supportive accommodation for individuals with severe mental illness and mental health difficulties. The service aims to encourage tenants to live independently in their own home and are progressive in their methods of identifying and meeting tenants needs within the service and in the wider community.

The 24-hour intensive supported housing service has a dedicated staff team and is provided to people who are ready to be discharged from hospital, or may be in danger of unnecessary hospital readmission. All tenants have the support of a key worker as well as ongoing general support from the staff team.Tenants have access to the full range of services through CMHT’s and community/day services, which is integrated into service delivery. The service consists of a main core house providing 24-hour intensive support for six individuals.
We also have a block of six individual flats within the complex. Tenants who live thereare more independent and can manage significant areas of their lives and support is available as necessary as is access to the staff team and other services as mentioned above. There are also six single person cottages at the service as well who are supported individually on a daily basis to achieve their chosen goals and aspirations.

The accommodations provide a comfortable and homely environment for adults living with severe mental illness and the service works to ensure that tenants have the individual support needed to reach their potential in all areas of their lives and that this process is underpinned by the Recovery ethos.
Job Purpose
To improve the lives of people experiencing severe mental health difficulties by:
- Supporting the Registered Manager with the day to day management of the service(s) and the staff team operating in the area.
- To encourage and support active participation of service users underpinned by the Recovery model.
Duties
To:
- To share the line management of the team includinginduction,supervision,appraisals and performance management.
- To support the Registered Manager with managing the day to day operations of the service and the staffing rota to ensure quality service provision 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- To support the Registered Manager to ensure that the service meets its Key Performance Indicators as stipulated in the service level agreement.
- Ensure the support of the use ofmedication ensuring the staff team order, administer and return medication in line with organisational and local procedures.
- Ensure effective communication within the team and with external agencies.
- Provide appropriate communication and support to carers and relatives.
- Supporting individuals potentially in a stressful situation, people in crisis and individuals considering suicide or intending to harm themselves.
- Promote the service to professionals, carers and users of the service
- Identify and process referrals to the service working in partnership with relevant agencies.
- Work with staff and the management team to develop needs led programmes, which supports inclusion and recovery.
- Produce statistical and written reports which meet the monitoring requirements of the service.
- Undertakegeneral administration tasks to ensure the efficient running of the service.
- Work withyourteam to ensureongoing assessment and management of risk.
- Conduct internal investigations and produce investigation reports with recommendations.
- Contribute to the financial recording and monitoring of the service, and influence the setting of budgets working within MindWise’s financial regulations.
- Ensure volunteers receive appropriatesupervision,guidance and support.
- SupportService User’s to engage in active representation on the Service Advisory Group.
- Managing and supporting staff to ensure that services remain sustainable and fit for purpose against the 21st century Mental Health agenda.

- Manage the service based processes that ensure all services are quality assured and fit for purpose as measured against internal and external quality assurance standards and regulatory programmes to include: RQIA’s Regulations; Supporting People, MindWise internal Quality Assurance systems, Health and Safety programs and Governance checks; and Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC).
- Be registered with or eligible to be a registered manager with the Regulation and Quality Inspection Authority
- Be registered with or eligible on appointment for registration with Northern Ireland Social Care Council
- Ability and flexibility to work a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week rota to include weekends, bank/public holidays and sleepover duties and to cover the same in the event of other staff absences.
