Atlanta Dogwood Festival’s International Offerings Celebrate Our Global Locals
Atlanta, Georgia (March 26, 2012) – The 76th Annual Atlanta Dogwood Festival welcomes back a host of international offerings to celebrate the many communities that make Atlanta such a cosmopolitan city. The popular International Stage will return to along with an exciting selection of Cultural Exchange Pavilions, internationally decorated golf carts and La Fête, a Friday night kick-off party featuring global cuisine.
The International Stage will feature many of the dedicated performers from past years as well several new acts. Some of this year’s diverse performers include Ogya World Band representing Ghana, Mademoizelle from France and Insonnia performing Spanish Flamenco. A full weekend schedule always keeps the International Stage one of the most interesting spots at the festival.
This year’s Cultural Exchange Pavilions will include representation from Lebanon, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Turkey, France, Japan and the Caribbean. With eight pavilions this year, this is a not-to-be-missed vibrant area of the Atlanta Dogwood Festival.
One of the unique and offbeat festival offerings, the fun and funky golf carts decorated by members of the international community are nothing less than mobile art. These golf carts can be found throughout the festival all weekend, but one lucky entrant will receive top honors at the La Fête event on Friday night. Everyone will try to wrest the Best in Show gold cart trophy from the hands of last year's winner Tony Alberto from the Philippine community.
For lovers of international fare, La Fête is the global tasting experience that includes bites from around the world and plenty of international wines and beers to go with them. For the 2012 event, guests will enjoy the tastes of Desi Spice Indian Cuisine, Gambier Foods, High Road Craft Ice Cream, Spanish Harlem, 3 Brothers Catering & Events, Meehan's Public House, The Olive Bistro, Mezza Lebanese Bistro & Bar and more international restaurants to be named soon!
