Downloading the DataScanner ? Application
The DataScanner portion of the DataDirector? system must be downloaded onto the PC attached to the scanner prior to scanning any answer documents into DataDirector.
Getting Started
? Ensure that the TWAIN driver (usually part of the software bundle that comes with the scanner) is downloaded on the computer you will be dedicating for scanning.
? Verify that the LAN cable and the power cord of the scanner are connected.
? Note: the person setting up the scanner must have a DataDirector username and password>
Recommended System Requirements for the PC attached to the Scanner
? Microsoft? Windows XP, Service Pack 2
? Microsoft? .NET Framework 1.1, Service Pack 1 (Not .NET 2.0)
? Intel? Pentium? D Processor with Dual Core Technology or AMD Athlon? 64 X2
? 1 to 2 GB system memory (RAM)
? 500 MB free disk space
? The more available memory, the faster answer sheets scan and process. Removing all unnecessary applications and background processes on the dedicated computer should improve scanning speed.
Download DataScanner
? Login to your district’s DataDirector site at ievedata.com/aps
Username: APS Employee ID #
Password: TCHTEST2 – 1st time logins or
User created password – if logged in before
? If you have access to more than one site, choose the appropriate school location
? In the address bar, you should now see: /aps/?News
? Remove everything after aps/ and type in datascanner
? The DataScanner installation page will load.
? Click the Download DataScanner Version 1.2.2 Now button and follow the on screen instructions.
? Install DataScanner by opening DataScannerInstaller.exe and following the instructions.
? Follow the on-line instructions to complete the set up of DataScanner.
? DataScanner will automatically open. In the configuration page, type aps in the space labeled “site name.”
? Click Save.
? Test the DataScanner installation by logging into the DataScanner application.
o Use your DataDirector username and password
? Note that a DataScanner icon has also been place on the PC’s desktop.
? You are now ready to use DataScanner. The latest version is 1.2.2.
