Subj:Distribution of D-5030 District Designated Funds (DDF) in the 2015-16 Rotary Year

We are pleased to submit this report in compliance with requirements of The Rotary Foundation (TRF) to report to district Rotarians on the distribution of DDF.

District 5030 beganthe 2015-16 Rotary Year with $ 292,285.32in its District Designated Fund. Funds carriedforwardfrom the prior year, and Endowment Fund Share Earnings brought the total DDF available to us in 2015-16to $404,084.50. The District ended the 2015-16 Rotary Year with a substantial amount of unspent DDF ($131,426.29) which carried forward to the current Rotary year. This was due in part to funds “tagged” to approved grants that had not been funded by 6/30/2016.

For the 2015-16 Rotary Year, D5030 requested and received50% of its DDF as District Grant #DG1637459 in the amount $149,647. The District Grants team received and evaluated numerous project proposals from 20 district Rotary clubs and the Seattle Rotaract club, ultimately approving 27 projects with budgets ranging from $500 to $12,000. Total matching grants disbursed was $140,216, not including the Assistant Governor Express Grants.

In 2015, the district launched special “Assistant Governor Express Grants” in amounts up to $500 per club, to enable Assistant Governors to expeditiously support their assigned clubs in community service projects affecting club membership and public image. Twenty district clubs benefitted directly from these 13 “AG Express Grants.” Total AG Express Grants issued: $9,420

TRF’s District Grant policies allow districts to set aside a contingency fund to support additional or unexpected grant requests and to pay for grant training and certain admin-istrative costs out of the District Grant. As the Rotary Year progressed, a few of the projects initially planned failed to materialize, and several clubs presented new projects to replace them. The district funded the approved match out of contingency and exhausted all but $11 from the total District Grant available. We applied the $11 to “Administrative” costs for training and postage, leaving a balance of $0.00 to be returned to The Rotary Foundation World Fund.

The table in Attachment A lists the projects, sponsoring & supporting clubs, and grant disbursements to include contingency funds, and administrative costs charged to the District Grant. We expect to close District Grant #1637459 in the next few weeks by submitting our annotated Spend Plan to The Rotary Foundation headquarters.

The 50% of DDF not dedicated to the District Grant was applied as matching funds to eight approved and funded Global Grant projects listed in Attachment B. Total DDF applied to these Global Grants was $128,970.

Submitted this 9thday of September, 2016.
