Subject: TASC Test Calculators

Date: October 25, 2013

At our ongoing TASC trainings, CTB McGraw-Hill has stated that the Texas Instruments Model

TI-30XS Multiview calculator will be the only calculator permitted for the paper-based TASC test. CTB McGraw-Hill will be providing these calculators to each test site; students will not be permitted to bring calculators day of test. For computer-based testing, an online calculator will be modeled after the TI-30XS.

We anticipate that all HSE preparation agencies will want to purchase the TI-30XS to provide the best and most accurate TASC test preparation possible. Many agencies have already looked into purchasing them and have asked if our office could provide information on better pricing, as these calculators retail for $15 to $17 each.

Texas Instruments recommends that rather than purchase the calculators at a retail store or web site, the best pricing can be obtained from an instructional product dealer. A complete list is available at: http://education.ti.com/en/us/purchase/purchase_dealer. Most instructional product dealers offer these calculators for substantially less than retail. Another advantage is that most dealers sell

“TI-30XS EZ-Spot Teacher Packs” of 10. The “EZ-Spot” version is bright yellow and is printed with “School Property”. This way, if students decide to purchase their own calculator, the white retail version will not be mixed up with the classroom ones. And, 10-packs come with free storage cases, so the calculators/cases can be numbered to easily identify if one has not been returned.

As an example, Texas Instruments has provided the attached discounted pricing from the recent 2013 National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Regional Conference in Baltimore, as many dealers offer special pricing at conferences. This offer from EAI Education is available to any education agency. If you choose this dealer, please read the information carefully.
