1. The Embassy Suites Hotel in North Charleston S.C. will be the site of the 2010 Department Convention, 3-6 June 2010. The Convention schedule of events is at enclosure (1). A detailed agenda will be published later. The Convention hotel is close to the Charleston International Airport and is accessible from Interstate 526 Exit 16 or Interstate 26 Exit 213 (see enclosure (2). A complimentary airport shuttle is provided to and from Charleston International Airport; a 5 minute trip. All Convention activities (lodging, meetings hospitality room and banquet) take place at the Embassy Suites or the adjacent Convention Center. There is an enclosed skywalk between the hotel and the Convention Center. Detailed hotel information on making reservations and the fill array of services offered at the Embassy Suites is at enclosure (3). There is plenty to see and do in the Charleston area. Activity, entertainment and sightseeing information is readily available in the hotel lobby. The suite rate is $119.00 per night plus tax (currently 12.5%). It may seem steep; however, the suite rate includes a fully cooked to order breakfast served daily for each guest; an Evening Managers Reception featuring complementary beverages and hot and cold hors d’oeuvers. This rate will be honored three days before and after the Convention dates (30 June through 10 July 2010) contingent on room availability. Reservation cut off date to receive the group rate is Tuesday, 4 May 2010 after which the special rate or availability will not be guaranteed.
2. Pre-Registration, baseball game/cookout/party/fireworks display sign-up and banquet information, menu and banquet reservation are at enclosure (4). Information concerning purchasing Convention Journal ads is contained in enclosure (5). Each detachment is requested to donate $100.00 (or whatever your detachment’s treasury will permit) to the hosting detachment. This donation will automatically be applied toward a Journal ad. Send donations to Bob Mastrion at the address shown in enclosure (5). See enclosure (6) for information on detachment convention delegates.
