NCM® FIDO™ Online Benchmarking Tool

NCM’s Fetch Instant Dealer Operations (FIDO) is a newly-designed financial tool for you to see key metrics for each of your operating departments. FIDO trends your data for 6 months and includes a graph comparing your data variance from the NCM franchise-specific Benchmark® for each trended month. FIDO also allows users to select between “Net to Gross Benchmark” or “Line Item Benchmark” comparison types. The Net to Gross Benchmark type is calculated by averaging the top performers based on Total Dealership Net to Gross. The Line Item Benchmark comparison type is calculated by the top performers based on each individual line. FIDO can also be viewed using a modern, web-capable mobile device.

User Instructions

· Login to NCM® member website

· Click on the COMPOSITE/PRODUCTS tab (see the next instruction if using a mobile device)

· Click the link to FIDO™

· At the top left corner, select the latest month and year for the trending data you would like to create

· At the top right corner, select the Benchmark® comparison type against which you want to compare your numbers

· Click on the departmental tabs (New, Used, Service, Parts, and Body Shop) to select the dealership operating department you wish to view

· Click on the desired metric to see each graph appear

· All graphs and metrics can be printed by clicking the Print button located at the top right corner

· Mobile device users can switch between different stores in the top right corner

Reading the Chart Graph

The Chart Graph compares the variance between your data and the NCM franchise-specific Benchmark. The Benchmarks for each trended month are displayed across the bottom of the chart. The number shown with each bar on the chart represents the amount your dealership performance varies from the NCM Benchmark. Green bars indicate you are performing at a better rate than the Benchmark; red bars indicate your performance is not as good as the Benchmark. For example, if a bar is green with the number 4.8 above it, you are performing 4.8% better than the NCM Benchmark.

Understanding Metrics Calculations

In order for FIDO to maintain conformity with all NCM products, please note the following:

Owners Salaries are not included in the departmental personnel expense or total departmental expense.

Employee Bonus is considered a personnel expense and is included in each department’s total expense.

Retail Vehicle Gross does not include gross from the sale of fleet or wholesale units.

Inventory Days Supply is calculated on the current month’s cost of vehicles sold.

Fixed Coverage is calculated by dividing the sum of service department, body shop, and parts department total gross by the operating expenses for all departments, less the following selling expenses: Compensation for vehicle salesmen and F&I, delivery expense, policy expense (new and used), demo expense, floor plan interest; vehicle advertising, used vehicle advertising, vehicle maintenance, and transportation claims.

Hours per Customer Repair Order is calculated by dividing the total customer labor sales by the customer effective rate to arrive at the total number of customer labor hours sold. Total customer labor hours sold divided by the number of customer repair orders will equal hours per customer repair order.
