Purpose of job :
  • To ensure the IT system and practices in Morocco meet operational needs, corporate standards and service level agreements;
  • To support British Council IT operations in Morocco and make a key contribution to ensuring and maintaining high standards in the areas specifically accountable for;
  • To assist the IT officer in providing assurance to the internal and external customer base.
Context and environment
British Council Morocco is part of the Middle east and north Africa region. In Morocco we operate in our teaching centres in Casablanca, Rabat and Tangier. The IT Department is represented by the IT officer.
The post holder will be part of the Business Support Services Morocco team. The aim of this team is to provide support to staff and ensure compliance in the areas of Finance, Admin, Human Resources and Information Technology.
The BSS team is managed by the Business Support Services Manager, who also holds current management responsibilities for the Finance Manager, HR Manager, two Administrative Officers (in Rabat and Casablanca) and IT officer. These Administrative Officers, have a specific set of responsibilities and accountabilities, including line management of supporting staff (handyman, office assistant/ messenger, and cleaner).
The IT assistant role will be assisting the IT Officer for the delivery for IT services for Casablanca office& will report directly to theIT Officer.
Accountabilities
  • To ensure the IT equipment maintenance of Casablanca British Council office. To ensure effective and efficient co-ordination between customers and GSD.
  • To assist with the installation of new hardware build.
Responsibilities and Main duties
The job holder contributes to the problem solving; IT issues preventing and informs the IT Officerongeneral IT matters within the field in line with Equal opportunities and diversity, Child Protectionand other overarching corporate policies:
  • Help desk;
  • IT maintenance;
  • Ensuring Interactive White Board (IWB) are operational for the teaching staff;
  • Ensuring physical security of all IT equipment;
  • Local network rewiring (e.g. moving items etc.);
  • Awareness raising of the use and application of relevant software (e.g. the standard software used by the organisation);
  • Raising Purchase orders related to IT stuff;
  • Assisting the IT officer for all technical and physical stuff.
Compliance
  • Supports the IT Officer to make sure thatthe Council’s IT policies and standards in relevant areas (e.g. Data Protection; Audit compliance, Standards on the use of Council IT systems and equipment etc.);
  • Assists with the repair and disposal of computer equipment and storage of spares in line with Council standards;
  • Assists with IT reviews as scheduled by the Regional Hub.
Key relationships (include internal and external)
All operational teams, particularly those team members who require IT support.
Global Services and Global Service desk team.
Good customer service is essential to the role.
