Re:EDC Fast Pitch Softball Tournament
Shanley High School is excited to be the host of the 2016 EDC Fast Pitch Softball Tournament scheduled for Thursday, May 26 through Saturday, May 28th. The information below will assist you in planning for the tournament.
Facilities
All games will be played at Sid Cichy Field at Shanley High School located at 5600 25th St South, Fargo, ND.
Footwear
Please note the games will be on a turf field. No metal cleats will be allowed on the field. Rubber and molded cleats or turf shoes are recommended. Tennis shoes are also acceptable and allowed for dry days. For teams that wish to warm up with indoor batting cages, TENNIS SHOES ONLY will be worn inside.
No sunflower seeds or gum allowed on the field. No sunflower seeds are allowed in the stadium seating as well.
Athletic Trainer
A certified athletic trainer from Sanford Health and Sports Medicine will be on site for the entire tournament. Water and cups will be provided.
Tournament Pairings and Game Times
Game times for both Thursday and Friday will be 12:00, 2:00, 4:00 and 6:00 PM. Saturday will be 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. If inclement weather prevails, the tournament manager shall postpone the tournament as necessary.
The pairings for the tournament will be #1 vs #8, #4 vs #5, #2 vs #7 and #3 vs #6. The home team will be the higher seed in each game in the tournament at occupy the third base dugout. The visitors (lower seed) will occupy the first base dugout. Shanley is the host school so the brackets will be arranged to ensure that Shanley plays the 6:00 PM game on day one of the tournament. The brackets will be released with teams being seeded correctly as early as possible, pending completion of the regular season.
Warm Up/Pre-Game Protocol
Teams participating in the first game each day will be allowed warm up/hitting on the field. Warm-up and pregame for the remaining games each day will be as follows:
Two Hours before game start-Home team will have access to batting cage indoors for 45 minutes (TENNIS SHOES ONLY INDOORS). Visiting team will be allowed throwing, ground balls and fly balls on the field outside of the right field area.
After 45 minutes, home and visiting teams will switch areas with the home team on the turf and the visiting team in the batting cage (TENNIS SHOES ONLY INDOORS).
If a team should choose to hit outside, the grass on the south side of Sid Cichy stadium will be a designated hitting area.
One hour and thirty minutes before starting game time, a team representative from each team will meet with a tournament manager at the flag pole to exchange line up cards and game information.
On field infield/outfield will be granted before each game. Home team will begin 20 minutes prior to the coaches/officials conference and allowed ten minutes, followed by ten minutes for the Visiting team. The coaches and officials meeting will then occur at home plate prior to the start of the game. Starting lineups will be announced before each game. The national anthem will be played prior to the first game of each day.
Coaches Meeting
A head coaches meeting will take place the morning of Saturday, May 28th at 8:00 AM in the teachers’ lounge at Shanley HS. Items to be discussed: All-EDC, Outstanding Senior Athlete, Coach of the Year, items for advisory, etc. If there is something you would like to add to the agenda, please email prior to the meeting time.
Tournament Program
The following information will be due to Jenny Schultz () no later than Monday, May 16th:
Use the attached roster form. Full roster-limited to 18 players (number, player name, position and year in school). Include any administrators that may attend the tournament on your roster, along with coaches, student managers, etc.

Adult Daily Admission$8.00
Student Daily Admission$5.00
No passes will be honored.
Sportsmanship
The NDHSAA Code of Conduct shall be in effect during the tournament along with the NDHSAA Fast Pitch Softball regulations.
Umpires
Umpires will be assigned by the Fargo-Moorhead Softball Umpires Association.
Seating
Fans will be encourage to sit in the bleachers that Sid Cichy Stadium provides. There will be a section behind home plate and the first base dugout that will be sectioned off as a “No Standing Zone.” This will be done for fan safety as well as privacy of the team occupying the first base dugout.
Parking
All fans/spectators will park in the North Parking Lot at Shanley HS. Auxillary parking will be in the field North of Sid Cichy Stadium and the North Parking Lot.
Busses are encouraged to drop players and coaches off along the fence line on the North side of Sid Cichy Stadium and then park in the West Parking Lot.
