Job Purpose:
To assist the Director of the WSA Research Centre in a variety of roles involving administration, management, carry out self-initiated research projects in visual arts & design studies, impact work development, teaching at postgraduate level in new and existing visual arts/design fields, and in other tasks and responsibilities.
Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities (6-10 bullet points maximum)
  1. To administrate, manage and initiate group research activities at WSA.
  1. To undertake self-initiated research, impact and other developmental work related to the furtherance of strategic research development at WSA.
  1. To undertake some teaching at postgraduate level in visual arts & design fields.
  1. Contribute to the preparation of bids for research funding.
  1. To undertake some work away from WSA when required.
  1. To collaborate with other visual arts institutions and agencies on WSA research activities.
  1. To assist the Director of Research in other capacities when required.

Direct responsibility to Director of Research.
May have additional reporting and liaison responsibilities to external agencies and collaborators.
May be asked to serve on relevant University committees, for example, research committee.
May be asked to work closely with WSA research partners at the UoS and other venues in the UK.
Special Requirements:
To be available to participate in fieldwork as required by the specified research project.
To attend national and international conferences for the purpose of disseminating research results.
You may be required to work internationally and for other parts of WSA.
Person Specification

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
PhD or equivalent expertise in modern or contemporary visual arts studies
PhD in cultural institutions administration / management
Detailed understanding and knowledge of world
visual arts institutions, practices and contexts
Knowledge of research councils’ visual arts interests and grant applications procedures
Experience of team-working in a HEI environment, knowledge of museums and galleries; management of research projects
Teaching at postgraduate level in visual arts studies areas such as arts management, criticism, and theoretical studies / 
