WEEK 2 (Email 3)

Subject: Things are heating up at Liquid Church … and you’re a part of it!

Dear [Insert First Name],

I’m so excited about this Giving Challenge! It seems as if the spiritual thermostat has been turned up in our church, and I can’t wait to see what God is going to do as a result of your commitment to putting Him first – in your life and in your finances!

I wanted to share two verses with you that I hope will provide encouragement to you during this 90 day challenge:

●Psalm 24:1 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

God owns everything. We are his stewards. By accepting the 90 day tithe challenge, you are tangibly living out this belief by putting God first in your finances!

2 Corinthians 9:7Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

God knows the condition of your heart. He loves a cheerful giver! I’m praying that each and every gift you give is made with joy, knowing that it is directly related to reaching people for Jesus!

Are there any other verses that have stood out to you as you have embarked on this journey? It would be incredible if you would share them with me at !

Blessings!

p.s. Did you receive the book that we sent you? I’d love you to read even the first few chapters and let me know what you think!?

WEEK 3 (Email 4)

Subject: wow. check out this story from the 90 Day Tithe Challenge!

Dear [Insert First Name],

We have received incredible initial comments from many of you that have been coming in with your initial gifts. Here are a few:

- The Lord has been us to tithe. After taking FPU, we are finally in agreement. Praise God.

- 90 Day Challenge is on… catching up on Year-To-Date tithing and using gross vs. net.

I’m in the military and I’ve been attending online. It’s time to give God what He deserves, it’s time I turn back to him.

Does any of this sound similar to your story? Would you take a minute to share the feelings you have been experiencing since you accepted the giving challenge? Send to me at . I would be honored to take a moment to pray for you!

Be blessed,

WEEK 4 (Email 5)

Subject: Fear or Faith?

Dear [Insert First Name],

I cannot begin to tell you how fired up I am about how many people have taken steps to place God first in their lives and in their finances! However, when it comes to money, it is easy for FEAR to creep in and distract us from the very steps we were so committed to take!

We all have legitimate fears – some that involve our finances! One major financial fear usually begins with, “What if I don’t have enough money to …” and can end with any of the following:

●Pay the house payment or rent?

●Pay my car payment?

●Buy food?

If you have ever experienced these feelings, you may have wanted to try to reason with God… “God, you know my circumstances, so surely you’ll understand if I don’t give.” In our hearts, we know we should put God first, but it is quite a challenge when faced with real and urgent financial needs.

When faced with these feelings, here is some Scripture that is really worth reading:

I Kings 17:8-16 8 Then the word of the Lord came to him: 9 “Go at once to Zarephath of Sidon and stay there. I have commanded a widow in that place to supply you with food.” 10 So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?” 11 As she was going to get it, he called, “And bring me, please, a piece of bread.”

12 “As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die.”

13 Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small cake of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord gives rain on the land.’”

15 She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. 16 For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.

Here is the situation the Zarephath widow was experiencing.

  1. Awful economy: It was so terrible that the widow was literally down to her last bit of food – and had no hope of obtaining any more.
  2. Fear took over: She was so overwhelmed by her circumstances that she had already accepted death.
  3. A challenge was issued: Just as you have accepted this Giving Challenge, Elijah challenged the woman to do something different than she had initially planned.
  4. Miracle! Because the lady had faith in the Lord, she chose to take the challenge. As a result, God supernaturally provided for her and her son!

I have seen this time and time again, “You can’t out give God!”

Be blessed,

WEEK 5 (Email 6)

Subject: listen to these …

Dear [Insert First Name],

Can you believe it has been a month since you took the 90 Day Tithe Challenge? I have heard many stories in the past few weeks. I wanted to share some of them with you, so we can celebrate together what God is doing!

“I was relocated with work and we are moving down to McLean Virginia for my new job. Regardless, my wife and I didn't want to miss this opportunity to trust God and make a commitment so we decided to sign up for the 90 challenge rather than wait for the "perfect time". My wife and I are planning on beginning the 90 day challenge with Liquid even while we begin looking for a new home church down in McLean. After we find a new home church we'll shift over and continue the challenge by tithing there”

One individual who heard one of Tim’s messages started tithing earlier this year and shared the following email.

“After listening to Tim’s Broke CD I decided to tithe 10 % of my salary “reluctantly”. In January of this year the fruits of my tithing started to appear. First I received a pay raise after 4 years of not getting one. Then in February of this year I received a letter from my town tax office stating they had a check from escrow they had been holding since 2009 and a week later I received a check amounting to $2,000 that I never knew anything about. Then I received $6,000 back in Federal Tax refund after the previous year I had to pay them. Oh and it gets better, April my Boss calls me in his office and presented me with a Merit award certificate for outstanding work and a bonus check for $850.00. Crazy!! But blessed indeed, since my first 90 day offering an unexpected check for overpayment of a loan for $160 showed up in the mail the next day.

I recognize that God shows himself faithful to different people in different ways but it is encouraging when individuals see financial benefits.

Thanks for sharing!

WEEK 7 (Email 8)

Subject: Diligence yields ………..?

Dear [Insert First Name],

As we continue in this Tithe Challenge, I’m just amazed at what God is doing in and through us! It takes real diligence to maintain our giving back to God and His work, and it is an honor to be part of your journey. The Bible speaks often about diligence, and I thought it would be helpful to share a few of those verses today.

Proverbs 21:5The plans of the diligent lead to profit, as surely as haste leads to poverty.

The writer makes it clear that those who are diligent will yield profit with their lives! That’s very encouraging!

Proverbs 13:4 The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.

Diligence yields a satisfaction unlike anything else. I’m praying that is EXACTLY what you are experiencing as you have been diligent in your finances and in your giving through The 90 Day Prayer Challenge!

Blessings!

WEEK 8 (Email 9)

Subject: It’s about the money … it’s about your spiritual journey …

Dear [Insert First Name],

It’s hard to believe that we are nearly at the half-way point of the 90-day tithe challenge. I’m so encouraged by your continued participation, and I’m praying that as you have taken the financial challenge, you have seen not only financial changes in your life but spiritual ones as well!

Here is a phenomenal reminder from Scripture regarding our giving:

Psalm 37:25-26
25 I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.
26 They are always generous and lend freely;
their children will be blessed.

Giving has a way of impacting our heart like few things can. It is such a personal connection to God’s heart. As we give, we are literally partnering with God to serve the poor, reach the lost and disconnected, and raise up a generation of people who serve God whole-heartedly!

Thank you for investing in the Kingdom!

WEEK 9 (Email 10)

Subject: some quotes on generosity to encourage you today!

Dear [Insert First Name],

Generosity is a way of life … thank you so much for taking steps towards a more generous life through the 90 Day Tithe Challenge! I want to encourage you with some of these quotes that I bumped into about being generous … although these aren’t from the Bible they inspire me to continue to be generous!

“That's what I consider true generosity: You give your all, and yet you always feel as if it costs you nothing.”

― Simone de Beauvoir

“Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.”

― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

“For it is in giving that we receive.”

― Francis of Assisi

“You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.”

― Debbie Macomber

Thank you for your generosity!

Blessings,

WEEK 10 (Email 11)

Subject: The connection between your money and your heart.

Dear [Insert First Name],

As we continue in this Tithe Challenge, I wanted to share a brief thought with you regarding a valid question nearly every follower of Jesus has asked: “Why is it so important to give to the church and God’s work first?”

The answer is found in Matthew 6:21. In this passage it states, “For where your treasure is (money), there your heart will be also.” Isn’t that truth so very good?!?!”

We can’t separate our heart from our money. Our money follows our heart and our heart follows our money.

When you give to God first, you are moving your heart to connect directly with Him. Your act of giving is a literal statement to God that you trust Him and want Him first in every area of your life – including your wallet!

I don’t know about you, but that is so encouraging to me. It fires me up!

Have a blessed week!

WEEK 11 (Email 12)

Subject: I’d love to hear from you...

Dear [Insert First Name],

It has been two months since the 90 Day Tithe Challenge began, and it is amazing what God is doing in our church!

My heart is filled with gratitude for each of you and for your generosity! I’m praying that God is moving mightily upon your behalf as you have put Him first in your finances. In fact, I would love to hear how you have been impacted during this Giving Challenge.

Would you take a minute or two to email me your story? I would love to celebrate with you, and even share it with others to encourage them in their journey.

Have a great week!

WEEK 12 (Email 13)

Subject: a promise to hold onto this week!

Dear [Insert First Name],

Thank you for participating in this 90 Day Tithe Challenge! For this week, I wanted to share a promise from God’s word regarding our giving. It is found in the book of Proverbs.

Proverbs 3:9-10
9 Honor the LORD with your wealth,
with the firstfruits of all your crops;
10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Isn’t that wonderful? When we give first fruits of everything God blesses us with, the verse says that we “honor” the Lord. I can’t think of anything that I want to do more with my life than to honor Him!

Then a promise is shared that our “barns will be filled to overflowing” and our “vats will brim over.” It makes me think of the wonderful verse found in Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you, and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.”

To provide encouragement to you throughout this week, print this email and put these promises in a place where you will see them all week long!

Have a great week!

WEEK 13 (Email 14)

Subject: Wow … your giving is making a huge impact! (In Jersey & Beyond!)

Dear [Insert First Name],

Did you know that because of your giving, our church has been able to:

  1. Launch new high school activities this fall
  2. Develop our spiritual care and counseling ministry
  3. Expand our leadership development programs

Thank you for being willing to take part in the 90 Day Tithe Challenge. We’re seeing God use our church to accomplish great things through your support!

I hope you have also seen God’s faithfulness during these past 90 days. We have prayed that as you have responded to God, you have seen increasing blessing. We hope that this is just the start of your obedient giving. We encourage you to continue to tithe and see God’s goodness as you “test” him.

Thanks for your generosity! Let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything I can do for you.

WEEK 14 (Email 15)

subject: humbled.

Dear [Insert First Name],

The 90 days during this Tithe Challenge have been an amazing time for our church. Many people have shared how God has intersected with their lives, and I wanted to take a moment to share one of those stories with you. I’m humbled to hear how God is at work in our midst!

“It is difficult to put our financial journey into a few words! It seems we learned some things along the way and yet the major trust in tithing eluded us. The weekend we truly decided to be faithful was before the 90 day challenge even started, but the day it was presented was the day we put it in writing and it became real in our lives. After that, we felt the Lord's great provision for putting Him first in our finances. On top of that my business began to flourish and it has been a very successful year so far for me. My job is my ministry and the Lord has blessed it and we have been able to tithe more than we expected. We live conservatively and have a ways to go to be debt free, but my husband who had lost hope that we would ever get out, now has hope. This is the first time we have been on the same page regarding our finances. We do not fight about them and trust that we are on our way to freedom. I hope that our story will help others not be so slow at trusting God with their finances. We could have avoided so much heartache and struggle in this area if we had received this truth earlier on.”
