Security
All visitors to our school must report to the school office to collect a visitor’s badge and sign our visitor’s book (which acts as a fire register in case of an emergency).
Absence - new phone number for reporting Pupil Absence is 0141 287 0039
Please remember to call the above number to report your child absent from school and not our school office.
Medical / dental appointments
If your child has a medical / dental appointment please could you remember to let your child’s class teacher or our school officesee the appointment card.
If you need to collect your child early for an appointment please send a letter to your child’s class teacher, or our school office, so that we can arrange for your child to wait for you at our office area.
Flu immunisation
Please return consent forms for flu immunisation to our school office as soon as possible. NHS will be collecting envelopes this week. Date for Flu vaccination is Monday 9.11.15 (am).
Primary 1
Our P1 children are settling in very well to the routines of school. From Monday 7th September they will be at school for the full day. Parents / carers should collect them promptly at 3pm. If they are going to after-care, the staff will collect them from cloakrooms and escort them to their after school activities.
Nursery class
Our new starts are settling in well in our Nursery Class. Nursery children will be joining in with various school activities throughout the session, including Assemblies and Golden Time.
Curricular Evening
All parents and carers are warmly invited to our Curricular Evening on Wednesday 30thSeptember. Please meet in our gym hall at 6pm when we will introduce you to our staff and have presentations on our key priorities for this session, after which you can visit your child’s classroom and hear from the class teacher about the planned learning for the session. Look out for further information about this nearer the time.
Kodaly Music
P2 and P2/1 are having Kodaly Music sessions every fortnight with a specialist teacher.
Activ8ors
Our P6 pupils are having 3 weeks of Activ8or training with our Active Schools Coordinator. They can then apply for an Activ8or job and join our team of pupils who plan and lead playground games.
School Clubs
This term Mrs McCaffery has organised for P4-5 children to have a lunchtime Basketball club. Other clubs are currently being planned. We have applied for additional funding to help us run extra clubs this session - watch this space for news about this. Please see our website for details of the types of clubs we offer our children.
PE
- P7 and P6 are having Basketball coaching this term with a coach from Glasgow Fever.
- P5 are focussing on cross-country running skills as part of the Get Ready to Run Programme. They will take part in the Bank of Scotland Schools Challenge on Friday 2ndOctober.
Out of School Events
- P2 are visiting Partick Library on Tuesday 1st September to meet the author Chae Strathieas part of the library’s 90th birthday celebrations.
- Some of our Nursery class are going to Partick Library for an interactive story telling session on Wednesday 2nd September (pm).
- Some of our P7 and P6 pupils are going to the City Halls for a concert by the Glasgow Schools Symphony Orchestra on 1st September.
Consent forms for class outings
These have been issued to P2, P6 and P7 as these classes will be going on their first school outing on 1st September. If the consent forms are not returned, your child will not be able to accompany their class on their visit. All other classes will be sent these forms soon. Please return them to our office promptly.
Committees
Many pupils will have the opportunity to be part of a committee within our school, usually meeting once per month. This includes our Pupil Council, Heath & Wellbeing Committee, JRSO (P7 only), House Captain/Vice Captain (P6 and P7), Activ8or committee, ECO Committee and Enterprise committee. See our next newsletter for names of committee members. We also have wall displays in our entrance area showing the work that each committee does. Please take the time to look at this the next time you are in our school.
House Captains (P7) / Vice Captains (P6):All pupils have had the chance to vote for the new Vice Captain for their House. Thanks to Mrs Christie who organised the voting. Well done to all P6 children who gave speeches in front of all the children from their House. Congratulations to our new House Captains from P7 (who were Vice Captains last session) and to our Vice Captains from P6.

Fuel Zone Lunch information from Cordia
- “Fuel Zone is the catering service provided in all Glasgow primary and secondary schools. The service is provided by Cordia who are part of Glasgow City Council. We offer a great value service where children can enjoy a tasty and healthy lunch in our vibrant dining areas.
- We offer a choice of three options each day and menus run on a three weekly cycle, allowing children to experience a variety of meals. We can also cater to specific dietary requirements including Halal, vegetarian and special medical diets.
- All primary1-3 children can enjoy a free lunch , while primaries 4-7 can receive a three course meal with a drink for only £1.70.
- Throughout the year the Fuel Zones are transformed for fun theme days celebrating different events in the calendar. Popular theme days include the annual Burns Supper and international theme days which provide an educational and enjoyable experience to children.

Parent Council
The first meeting is on Monday 7th September at 7pm. All parents and carers are welcome. Please see attached flier about ‘Easy fundraising’, which our Parent Council ask you to support, to help raise funds for the school.
