Hello Everyone,
Welcome to VT2 training! The training is designed to ensure that you receive structured training within hospital practice at the end of which you have developed 'generalist foundation skills'.
This part of your training generally takes ~ 18 months to 2 years to complete.
You will have a tutor, a locality tutor and a NES Pharmacy Practice Education Coordinator to help you throughout your training.
I attach our Guidance document for you.
There is a lot of guidance and supportto help you get started and keep you on track but we don't provide a lot of face - to- face sessions as many of you will be hard pressed to get out to attend them but we do provide an induction session and then regular telephone surgerieswhich youshould attend.
Should you feel that an educational session would be good for a particular topic, please e mail/speak with your PECor your Locality Tutor and we will organise this.
The next induction session is on 15th May2015 at NES in Glasgow. You should book on Portal to attend the session.
Getting started with your VT2 training -6 easy steps
1. Look at the Guidance document attached and the VT web pages
Please familiarise yourself with the NES Pharmacy VT pages and the guidance especially the personnel who are there to help you. Have a look at the different types of evidence that we are currently looking for.
2.Familiarise yourself with the timelines for your training - VT2 Guidance for completion of activities
Read the guidance at the bottom of the induction page....around the various activities that details what you need to undertake when.... as well asagreeing dates to meet your tutor and schedule your 6,9 and 15mth appraisals. You need to e mail me when you have completed your appraisal and we will then update our records.
You should also receive about 1/2 a day/month to develop your evidence. This may take the form of 1/2 day per month or it may be shorter bursts of time. Investigate and agree with your tutor how you willuse this time.
3. Set up your e Portfolio
You willshortly receive information about the VT ePortfolio. When you access the e Portfolio input your personal details including a photograph.
- Have a look at the 'logs and forms' and the 'competency framework' (attached within Guidance document)
- Set up your personal library with folders for each section of the Competency Framework.
- Plan what you will tackle over the next month so that you can get started. It is helpful to start developing a PDP (within e Portfolio) or to draft a word document that outlines your training requirements i.e. a CPD table for the area of practice that you are starting in.
- Watch the webinar about the VT2 ePortfolio, look at the FAQs and the Powerpoint presentationespecially about how you will request feedbackandabout how to upload your CPD records.
If we don't have details of your tutor, so that we can get you set up....please e mail their details to ap.
Here is the web address for the NHS e portfolio.
4. Update your 'Portal' of events information
Please ensure that you also access Portal the online booking system and update your details if you were a Pre reg last year. This will ensure that you are eligible to attend a variety of events..which may not be open to you if you remain in Pre reg status on Portal. Here is the link to Portal.
5. Look at the sample e Portfolio
There is also a sample e portfolio available for you to view....
