This list of Certifications is intended to be a guide to certifications that might be acceptable for ITM496 credit. However, changes and your specific circumstances may remove some of these certifications from consideration. Final decisions are up to the ITM496 Coordinator.

Cisco /
CCNA R&S: Cisco Certified Network Associate, Routing and Switching / The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification covers switch and router administration for small- and medium-sized networks. It involves managing Cisco devices on a private network, with multiple subnets, connected to the Internet.
Gaining the CCNA certification qualifies you for the following job roles: Cisco network administrator, Cisco entry-level help desk.
While not required, it is recommended to haveA+andNetwork+training (or equivalent) before studying for your CCNA.
Cisco provides a single-exam or a two-exam option for gaining the CCNA certification. We recommend taking the single-exam option (640-802) where possible. Passing this exam gives you the CCNA certification, along with the CCENT (introductory networking) certification.

CCNP: Cisco Certified Network Professional / for those with at least one year of networking experience who are ready to advance their skills and work independently on complex network solutions. Those who achieve CCNP have demonstrated the skills required in enterprise roles such as network technician, support engineer, systems engineer or network engineer.

Microsoft / / As a general rule, we view the MTA level certifications as too elementary to grant ITM496 credit. There may be exceptions, but we have not had one yet.
There is a wide variety of paths through the Microsoft certifications, through specializations and levels of mastery. Find your area of interest and we will explore the various options and exams available.
MCSA: Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator / The Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification for a particular technology (eg. Windows Server 2012) is a multi-exam certification that shows you have the primary set of skills in that technology needed to qualify for a position as a network or computer systems administrator or a computer support specialist.
MCSE: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer / Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert
MCITP: Microsoft Certified IT Professional / Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certifications are multi-exam certifications targeted to medium- and large-business job roles. Gaining an MCITP credential says you have the knowledge and experience to manage, troubleshoot, and deploy Microsoft Windows server technologies to meet critical business needs. (Earning an MCITP will also earn you a related MCSA or MCTS certificate en route.)
MCTS: Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist / Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certifications are single-exam certifications covering a specific Microsoft technology. Passing the exam certifies that you can install, configure, and manage the corresponding Microsoft feature in a medium and enterprise network.
MCSD: Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer

CAPM®: Certified Associate in Project Management / THIS IS UNDER CONSIDERATION
To apply requires either 1,500 hours of professional experience on a project team, or 23 contact hours of formal education.
PMP®: Project Management Professional / To apply it requires 4,500 or 7,500 hours of documented project management experience.
