Student-Parent/Guardian-Teacher Contract

Thomas Johnson Middle School Music Department

In order for student success and achievement in music to take place, a high level of commitment and responsibility is placed each year upon the student, parent/guardian, and teacher. This contract provides a basic level of commitment each party is willing to accept for each new school year.

Student Agreement:

It is important to me that I work hard to do the best that I am able to do in school. I commit to do the following:

  1. Come to school on time and prepared for the day (instrument, supplies, equipment, music, pencil, right attitude, correct behavior).
  2. Do my best with everything that I am asked to do by my teacher.
  3. Respect myself and others in and outside the school.
  4. Follow the expectations and procedures of my school and my teacher.
  5. Attend all required rehearsals and performances.
  6. Practice a minimum of 30 minutes per day, 5 days a week so that I can continue to get better on my instrument. This is my homework.

Parent/Guardian Agreement:

It is important to me that my child learns and does his/her best. I will commit to do the following:

  1. Make sure my child is in school every day, on time, and prepared for the day (instrument, equipment, supplies, music, pencils, highlighters).
  2. Monitoring appropriate time for homework completion (instrument practice), television viewing, and a routine bedtime so my child receives an adequate amount of sleep.
  3. Encourage my child’s success in this class by attending concerts and supporting the teachers’ efforts to educate my child.
  4. Monitoring practice habits of my child to ensure that they will make regular progress on their instrument.
  5. Communicate with the teacher as needed to remain informed.
