The Rev. Stephen Kirkegaard, Incumbent

Welcome to Church of the Holy Trinity, Guildwood

At Holy Trinity, Guildwood, we welcome all who come to worship with us. Though we are people of diverse background, lifestyle, and opinion, we are one in our desire to follow Jesus Christ. We seek to live as diversity in unity, offering a community in which we can all grow together as one Body: God’s Church. We hope the order of service will help you find your way, but feel free to ask your neighbour for help. Hymns can be found in the blue hymnal Common Praise. We are happy to have you worship with us today. We hope to see you again. May this time of worship of God be for you a source of renewal, re-creation and joy.

Holy Communion: All are welcome in this church and at this altar. All baptized persons, including children, are invited to receive the bread and wine at Christ’s table. Those not receiving communion may wish to receive a blessing. Simply cross your hands over your chest to indicate you are not receiving communion. The Anglican Church supports the ancient use of the common cup. Those receiving the chalice are asked to assist the chalice bearer by grasping the cup at the base and guiding the cup to their lips. For health purposes the practice of intinction, dipping the bread into the wine, is discouraged. If you do not wish to drink from the common cup, please feel free to receive the bread only. Simply cross your hands over your chest when the chalice bearer passes by to indicate you do not wish the wine. The ancient teaching is that the whole Christ is received whether one receives only the consecrated bread or both bread and wine.

Children are always welcome at Holy Trinity. During the summer months, there is no ChurchSchool program.Colouring sheets and crayons will be provided to children staying in Church for the worship service. Please ask the sidespeople or Welcome team for these, if they do not offer them to your child. There is also space at the back of the church for parents to sit with their infants or with children who need to stretch and move around a bit. Child care for preschool aged children (1-3 years) will be provided through the summer. ChurchSchool will resume on
September 11.

The Order of Service for 8:00 a.m. is on Page 5.

Prayers of the People – Seventh Sunday after Pentecost

We are all searching for the treasure in life.

May the Lord accompany us as we search and bless us as we pray.

May we find in life the treasure God has put there for us.

May nothing stand in the way of finding joy and happiness.

Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for wisdom.

May we set our sights on what is truly worthwhile and be guided by true values.

Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for all who are searching for meaning and a sense of purpose.

We pray for all who despair of finding this treasure.

Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for our world …

Ttis island home that has been entrusted into our care.

Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for the sick and thosein need …

May they know God’s healing and strength.

Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for the church …

that it will be a haven and a home and a revelation to all who are searching.

Lord hear our prayer.

We pray for all, known and unknown, who have died…
May they come to share God’s own glory.

Lord hear our prayer.

We thank you Lord for the treasure that is life and we praise you for your glory.

You who live and reign for ever and ever.

Amen.
