  • Question: How much is the consignment fee?
  • Answer: 45% for resale items, 35% for handmade items.
  • Question: Are there any other charges?
  • Answer: For the most part No, however we do ask that the consignor provide an itemized list and bring items in clean. If River Village Shoppe has to clean or itemize then we will charge $5 for each service required. Also, The State of Ohio mandates that anything upholstered has to be sprayed with Steri-fab and tagged. River Village Shoppe charges $2 per item that has to be sprayed.
  • Question: How do you price incoming items?
  • Answer: River Village Shoppe pays for a website monthly that gives current values of incoming items.

  • Question: If I think something is valued higher than what River Village Shoppe’s sources are showing, how is that handled?
  • Answer: River Village Shoppe’s goal is to sell all incoming items with the understanding that the main goal is to sell the items for the best price possible.
  • Question: When can I bring items in to River Village Shoppe?
  • Answer: River Village Shoppe and American Country Auction allow drop offs and pick-ups from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. If another time is needed, please call to make an appointment. We try to maintain 12-5 p.m. as our sales time so that we can concentrate on r incoming customers.
  • Question: When do I get paid for my items that sell?
  • Answer: River Village Shoppes adds all sales up on a monthly basis. If your item sells this month, you get a check the following month. For example, If your item sells in January then you will receive a check in February.
  • Question: Do I have any other options besides selling my items in River Village Shoppe?
  • Answer: Yes, River Village Shoppe is just one option. The other option is for your items to be sold on American Country Auction which is our online auction company. If you decide that this is the more appropriate option for you, then all of your items will be auctioned off in one or two auctions and checks will be distributed as soon as all of the monies have cleared the accounts.
  • Question: Can I choose both options of selling in River Village Shoppe and on American Country Auction?
  • Answer: Absolutely. We listen to our customers needs and direct you to what we think is the best choice for you, however, you are the customer so you let us know where you want your items sold.
  • Question: I’ve decided I want to consign some of my items to RVS or ACA, What kinds of items are marketable?
  • Answer: Great Question! The market is always changing and I have a very eclectic mix of items to meet the needs of my very eclectic customer base. If you are questioning it, bring it? I can always send it home with you.
  • Question: Is there anything River Village Shoppe will not accept?
  • Answer: Yes. We do not accept anything with chips or cracks or that are broken, clothing, lamps, clear glass items, and certain artwork. Artwork is very hard to sell.
  • Question: If I have furniture that is too big to just put in the car and bring down or if I have a large estate that I need advice on, how is that handled?
  • Answer: You can always send River Village Shoppe an email with pictures of large items or we can set up an appointment for a preview of the estate. The cost for the appointment preview is $20.
