ServSafe Training

Alaska regulations and the Municipality of Anchorage require food establishments to have at least one Certified Food Protection Manager on site. The ServSafe training will review content for the Certified Food Protection Manager’s exam by covering the following five key areas: basic food safety, personal hygiene, cross-contamination and allergens, time and temperature, and cleaning and sanitation. ServSafe Essentials, 5th Edition must be purchased by attendee in advance. You may purchase from www.ServSafe.com ($50.50) or you may find a copy at www.Amazon.com. Attendees should read the Servsafe Essentials book prior to training day.

Please submit registration form NO LATER than July 30, 2012. Confirmation e-mails will be sent by Friday, August 3, 2012. Due to space limitations you may be asked to send only ONE person from your agency, and space will be filled on a first come first serve basis. DO NOT making travel arrangements until you have received your confirmation e-mail.

Depending on space available, your agency may also request to send contractors/employees that are not directly linked to your organization but have a role in the food program.

**If English is your second language, or you plan on sending a staff member that does not use English as their first language:

We highly recommend purchasing the ServSafe manual in their native language. We have found in the past that non-native English speakers tend to have lower scores on the exam because of the language barrier. Amazon offers a variety of manuals and exams on their website, and www.servsafe.com offers the printed version of the exam in Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and French. We will purchase the exam in Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Japanese or French if requested.
