Student Activities Report

WAS and USAS cooperated on all student judging for the Hawaii meeting. Dr. Jeff Hinshaw at North Carolina State University and myself coordinated the judging. All student activities for the Hawaii were coordinated by the USAS Student Activities committee.

Approximately 78 WAS/USAS Student Abstracts and Presentation/Posters were judged for the Hawaii meeting. Travel Awards were given to six students (3 each WAS and USAS) at $300. Students received their awards at the Student Reception.

Oral presentations and Posters at the meeting were judged by a minimum of three judges. First and Second places (both WAS and USAS) were awarded at $400 and $200, respectively. Winners were:

Student activities for the Bali meeting are in the planning stages. I have emailed suggested contacts for assistance with the Bali meeting. I am planning to meet with Dr. Sugama at the Sydney meeting.
