2016 Annual Congress – Third Announcement

Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of The South African Society of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgeons it gives us great pleasure to keep you up to date regarding the preliminary preparations of the 2016 Annual SASMFOS Congress.
The venue for our 2016 SASMFOS Congress, from Thursday 15th September to Sunday 18th September 2016 is to be the Birchwood hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre ( which is a hotel/conference center set amid 52 hectares of gardens. This relaxed conference hotel is 1 km from the Wild Waters Boksburg water park, 7 km from East Rand Mall and 9 km from O.R Tambo International Airport, which makes the congress venue easily accessible for those colleagues attending the conference from outside Gauteng.
This year’s congress is a local content congress and will again allow our members and registrars to showcase their work. In addition, there will be two symposia involving international speakers on topics of Distraction Osteogenesis in the form of a workshop and a TMJ trauma Symposium presented by an international faculty of the AO within the main congress programme. Please do not forget to submit your abstracts for oral and poster presentations to the SASMFOS Scientific committee as a soon as is possible.
The Congress registration is being organized through OnScreen Conferences and Events, and the on line registration for the congressis now open on the SASMFOS website. Please visit the website on to register.
The preliminary congress programme has also been posted onto the website, has the abstract submission forms for oral and poster presentations. We once again are awaiting presentations of superior quality that we have become accustomed to as a Society.

The committee overseeing the congress consists of: Suvir Singh (secretary), Rinus Beukes (treasurer), Jean Morkel and Wynand van der Linden (Scientific), Ebi Fakir and Tom Cason (Traders), Manfred Swanepoel (Sport), and Vivesh Rughubar (Convener).
Please register for the congress early in order to facilitate the congress organization and accommodation at the congress hotel. A point for the registrars to note is that in order to be eligible for reduced congress registration fees, you have to be a registered SASMFOS registrar member. Application forms for trainee registration can be obtained from the SASMFOS Honorary secretary, Dr. Suvir Singh via email .
