Reporting to the Development Manager, Special Events & Partnerships, the Development Coordinator, Special Events & Engagement position requires a driven and enthusiastic individual who will assume responsibility for coordination of special event logistics, third party events and community initiatives, support sponsorship activations, event volunteer recruitment and training, assist in relation to web development requests, and collaborate in the development of communication materials to successfully deliver the Foundation’s signature and third party, high profile fundraising events. The position plays an integral role in maximizing fundraising revenue, elevating brand standards and consistency across all channels, while contributing to an overall positive donor experience.

The role requires a high level of professional motivation; sound ethical practices, superior written and verbal communications skills; and the proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. He/she will have the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders (i.e. donors, sponsors, participants, event guests, volunteers, etc) and understand how to align the organization’s fundraising needs accordingly.

Primary Position Responsibilities

  • Work close with the Development Manager, Special Events & Partnerships to support withevent management day-to-day taskwithin various activities:project management, event logistics, sponsorship, research, solicitation, communications, activation, administration and stewardship
  • Coordinate support and implementation requirements for community initiatives including third party events, employee givingprograms and cause related marketing projects
  • Coordinate workflow for project activities with internal departments (comms, IT, administration, etc.)
  • Liaise with suppliers to coordinate and manage project requirements
  • Support event volunteers, including recruitment, coordination, training and stewarding
  • Undertake secondary research in order to gain insight into current challenges and industry trends
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, event participants,volunteers and other supporters
  • Content development for event and sponsorship materials (i.e. sponsorship proposals, presentations, speaking notes, marketing collateral, external communications, etc) as needed
  • Assist with event-based social media content and participant inquiries in a timely manner
  • Other tasks as they evolve

Position Qualifications

  • Post secondary education, at either the university or community college level
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience in event and/or project management
  • Excellent project and time management skills
  • Confidence in taking initiative
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Physical demands including lifting, carrying and/or handling objects when required
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when required
  • Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or another CRM software system and/or graphic and web design software considered an asset
  • Previous work experience with a fundraising organization also considered an asset
