Fire Department Meeting March 12, 2014
Members present: Justin Aspelieter, Dion Baker, Alan Currie, Shawn Forbes, Karen Leier, Len Parker, Ry Parker, Sue Parker, Kat Shewfelt
Len called the meeting to order at 7:32 pm
- Treasurer’s report
A)Bank accounts: there is currently $18445.33 in the General Account and $2067.24 in the Lotto Account.
B)There is $250 Gold Rush money still outstanding.
Alan made a motion to adopt the Treasurer’s Report as presented. Shawn seconded. All in favour, Carried.
- Paperwork
A)All Gold Rush tickets have been returned.
- Sue read the minutes from the February meeting. Dion made a motion to adopt the minutes as read. Alan seconded. All in favour, Carried.
- Old business from minutes
A)Village will write a tax receipt for Enbridge on our behalf.
B)Exhaust fan – Alan and Gerard are exploring options, likely spring/summer installation
C)RM Francis – ongoing negotiations
D)Alliance Grant – discussion. We will seek money for Auto Ex training and tools
E)Fire hall keys – nothing has changed
- Training & Equipment
A)Truck repairs – nothing has changed
B)Humboldt Fire School – no members attending. Shellbrook Fire School will be held October 3-5, 2014
C)SCBA – discussion. Trevor has 2 rigs with 4 masks and 4 bottles. Rocky Mountain Phoenix has units for sale approx $5000 each. Len waiting to hear back from BC contact. Dion will continue to explore options. Trevor provided information from Dalmatian Fire.
- Fundraising
A)St Patrick’s Basket – 4 members have yet to turn in bottles. Please pay $20.02 each to Karen. We owe the store $85.45 for making up/ filling the basket with other items. The draw will be made Saturday March 15 at 8pm at the store.
B)Cabaret – discussion. Members in attendance voted 7-2 to cancel the event in lieu of Ken Leier’s Benefit later this month. Dion will cancel the DJ, forfeiting our deposit. Kat will cancel the Gym Hall. Len will tell the Village and make cancelled banners for posters.
- New Business
A)Tour of Orica Canada site at Lajord Saturday March 22 at 10am.
B) BH Safety is looking for a new sales rep.
C)Darren Solie & Donnie Baker were honoured by SARM for their assistance at the MVA call on October 30, 2012.
D)James Pope – has offered $200 donation for department assistance/practice fire when he burns down a barn. Discussion. Len & Dion will assess tomorrow.
E)SGI billing rates have increased to $852/productive hour and $511/non productive hour.
F)SVFFA sticker to go on new truck.
- Gold Rush March winner is Jean M Leier #43 of Francis for $100.
- April meeting will be held April 9, 2014 at 7:30 pm.
