The Professional Development Support Fund
2008-2009
This fund has been set up to assist with the professional development of our members. Applications are welcome from those considering attending an educational meeting, for example:
- ACC Annual Meeting 2009, 29-31 March 2009, Orlando,USA
- 9th Annual Spring Meeting on Cardiovascular Nursing, 24 - 25 April 2009, Dublin, Ireland
- BCS Annual Conference and Exhibition 2009, 1-3 June 2009, ExCel London
- ESC Congress 2009, 29 August - 2 September 2009, Barcelona, Spain
- American Heart Association, 14 – 18 November 2009, venue TBC
The BANCC Council will review submitted applications during their meeting on 8thApril 2009 and if their application is approved, the applicant will be asked to submit an invoice to the BANCC prior to payment.
The total amount that can be offered per application is up to £500 for international conferences, and £250 for those held in the United Kingdom. The applicant must be aware that BANCC will not cover the entire cost of a meeting and expenses if this comes to a total of more than £500 for international or £250 for UK conferences, and in these circumstances additional funding should be sought.
The member sponsored will be required to either submit a poster for presentation at the BANCC conference the following year, or to write an article for the BANCC newsletter following the dates of the conference that is sponsored. This will be made a condition of the sponsorship and explained following a successful application. Successful applicants will receive 75% of funding allocated on approval and the remaining 25% following successful completion and presentation of the activity as described above.
Applications will be considered at the BANCC Council meeting prior to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the British Cardiovascular Society Annual Scientific Conference. Applicants will be notified in writing of the result of their request and successful applications will also be mentioned in the newsletter.
The deadline for applications for the current 2008-2009 membership year is 31 March 2009.
