An exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly created post within White City Enterprise, funded through the White City Play Partnership which consists of White City Adventure Playground and WCE. It is the view of White City Adventure Playground, that through supporting the time and space for children’s play we can increase the possibilities for play across the community. The role of this Playworker is to work ‘outside of the fence’ of the White City Adventure Playground to help embed an approach to support the conditions for playfulness to thrive across the ward of Wormholt and White City.

The Community Playworker will focus on identifying, preparing and maintaining the conditions, the time and the space, that allow possibilities for increased moments of play in the environments where children and adults find themselves. The post-holder will contribute to examining current trends of playfulness through the community. The Community Playworker will be responsible for the delivery of play opportunities across the ward, including the facilitation of adventure playground sessions, outreach park sessions and informal opportunities for children to play in the locality.

Through the administration and support of the Adventure Playground Manager and the WCE CEO, the post-holder will be able to work creatively and innovatively to meet the localised need of the community. Ideally (but not essentially) the post-holder should have a high level of localised knowledge, and also a high degree of knowledge and understanding of the complex and unique characteristics of play.
