Today’s Worship Plan

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 “...Whoever sows sparingly will also reap also sparingly and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”… Please notice the offering box in the entranceway; where we cheerfully place our offerings in the collection box. Your contributions to God help us preach the Gospel here in Cedar Key, around the world and carry out works of benevolence to the glory of Christ our Lord.

Welcome Visitors and Members! We hope that your experience today will add something meaningful to your life in Christ Jesus. If you are new to the area and would like more information about this church, let us know. If you are just visiting our island community, then we hope to see you again. Would you like to confess your faith in Jesus Christ and repent of your sins today? Come forward during the last song and we will assist you in obeying Christ as Lord – or let us know your desire some other time. We can arrange a time for your baptism into Christ. If you are a Christian and wandered away from home with the Lord, you may make your desire known and we will pray for God to forgive your sins, and fully restore you to Jesus Christ and joyful fellowship with other Christians.

Share the Good News! Free Bible studies and much more are available at our congregation’s web site Cedar Key Church of Christ. We also have the church’s weekly Bulletin on our web site.

We have church meetings on Sunday and Wednesday at 5:00pm

If you ever have even half a chance to attend one of these meetings, you will never regret it! The purpose of these meetings is to maintain our focus on the living Bread of life – Jesus who is indeed the WORD that brings life for all eternity and abundant life while we are alive in the body.

On Wednesday, we have a bonus of some very tasty snacks prepared by loving hands. Try it, you’ll like it!

Bible question: Are the writings in the New Testament also called Scriptures? (2 Peter 3)

The Lord Is My Shepherd

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. (Psalm 23:1)

Did you ever think deeper about the work of a shepherd? What exactly is the work description for a shepherd? 1. Know the sheep and teach them to know your voice. 2. Lead sheep to food. 3. Lead sheep to water. 4. Protect sheep from wild predator animals. 5. Sleep with one eye open to watch out for thieves who steel sheep.

When I voluntarily choose to become a sheep, do I turn in my rights of freedom of choice? Is living as a sheep less rewarding than living as as a human? What does Scripture teach us?

(Joshua 24:14-15) Joshua challenged the people of ancient Israel to give up worshipping false idols and serve only the true and living God. “Choose this day whom you will serve!”….”But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” Serving God is a matter of the greatest personal choice.

(2 Corinthians 3:16-18) God’s Spirit sets us free from the law of sin and death. This means that as we choose to follow the Good Shepherd, we have true freedom that is freedom indeed!

(John 10:14; Hebrews 13:20; 1 Peter 2:25, 5:4) Our Good Shepherd is none other that Jesus Christ who paid the ultimate sacrifice in order to obtain our freedom from sin and death so that we can follow Him and be truly FREE.

(Isaiah 53:6) At one time in each life, a choice is made to wander and “go astry” like a sheep would wander away from the shepherd. A wandering sheep could be picked up as a stray and sold in an auction. The original owner must offer a high enough price for the sheep in order to redeem it.

(Matthew 23:37) Jesus laments the status of the Jews in Jerusalem who repeatedly rejected God’s prophets and now they also reject the Son of God. Christ pictured Jews of that time as a flock of chicks who left the safety of the mother hen.

(1 John 4:13-18) One of the most beautiful aspects of Jesus as the Good Shepherd is that he leads us through those times of uncertainty when we cannot see a clear path ahead. The supreme love of God and love for our Shepherd provides us with the certainty we need to go where He leads. DB
