SDI Oil & GasTrade Mission to India

3 - 10December2016

The Oil and Gas in India is going through change:

  • Oil consumption in India is projected to increase by 4-5% per annum, a demand of 4 million b/d.

69 small and marginal fields are to be auctioned in 2016 allowing the opportunity of low cost operators to exploit new technology. Therefore subsea drilling and infrastructure development companies are in demand. The Indian government has allowed 100% foreign owned operators.1.4 million square kilometres are also to be surveyed in the next five years for new fields.

  • India has huge opportunities in its gas industry. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made the formation of a national gas grid a top priority through the addition of 15,000 kilometres of gas pipelines.
  • Other potential opportunities include the explorationand production of unconventional oil and gas, such as coal bed methane, shale gas and underground coal gasification.
