MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING (15th April 2014)
The minutes were agreed as accurate.
MATTERS ARISING
None.
TERMS OF REFERENCE
The following amendments were agreed for the Terms of Reference:
·  Add 5.4 – To re-appraise AE-W on or before the anniversary of their 3 year registration period.
·  Add 7.2 – The AE-W Panel will meet on at least a quarterly basis.
·  Update the version in the footer
NH to amend the document and send to JT for distribution.
PANEL MEMBERSHIP
Following a discussion as to whether new members need to be looked at for the Panel it was agreed to wait until the AE paper has been finalised. Once the paper is finalised the Panel will have a better idea if any expertise are missing and could then look at recruiting suitable Panel Members if needed.
AE APPRAISAL
BM reported on the rationale behind the AE appraisal paper. It was agreed that Water Safety will be dropped and the title will be Authorising Engineer – Water (AE-W). A discussion followed regarding the qualifications needed to gain AE-W status. It may be the case of members wishing to apply who don’t have Chartered Status but still having the necessary skillset required to become an AE-W. It was agreed that the Panel have to be careful around the wording of this in the document, the paper cannot stand out too much to other AE papers but also have to be careful not to exclude either. BM to send a revised document by close of play on the 2nd July 2014 and all comments on the amended version to be received by 18th July 2014. It was also agreed once the final paper has been drafted it will be sent on to Julian Amey for opinion.
IHEEM TECHNICAL SESSION AT CONFERENCE
Following a discussion it was agreed the topic for the technical session at the IHEEM Conference will be HSC274. It was agreed that a short presentation will be given by PN followed by a QA session. PN to create 2 types of slideshow, 1 a short presentation leaving time for a lot of questions or a longer presentation if the audience doesn’t have much to say. PN to send a paragraph to JT to be distributed to the Contributors of the Water Technical Platform inviting them to submit questions. JT to speak to Annabelle Morgan to ensure the Technical Session does not clash with anything Water related on the main stage at the Conference.
SEMINAR 2015
NH reported on the Water Technical Sessions held in May and whether the panel felt there was the interest to hold another seminar in 2015. JT reported that an Events Manager has now been recruited and will take up post at the end of July and as such there would be improved co-ordination of the event to ensure there are no date clashes etc. It was agreed the interest is there and to look into holding a joint seminar with the Water Management Society. MP to liaise with the Events Manager with regards to this.
