~~Street Party~~

Yesterday the KS1 and 2 children had a very enjoyable morning taking part in The Dingle Street Party to commemorate the Royal Wedding taking place over Easter. All the children learnt and sang the National Anthem, ate their snacks and joined in with games and competitions on the field and playground. We were also able to have a video link with our partner school, WynbergJuniorBoysSchool in Cape Town, and show them what we were doing and swap questions and answers between children of the Schools.

Our Reception children held their Street Party on Tuesday. Again the children came in dressed up and were able to take part in a variety of games and eat snacks. They too had a very enjoyable day.

~~ Spring Fair~~

Thank you for your support last night at the spring fair. The evening was a great success. In total we raised £1960. In particular I would like to thank Mrs Griffith and all the PTA who have spent many hours preparing for the day and to all the pupils, parents, teachers, other staff, mid day assistants and cleaners for their efforts both on the stalls and clearing up afterwards.

~~School uniform~~

You can order School Uniform from Mrs Charlton & Mrs Robinson or call 07779164176 or 07988355095

Please be advised that hooded and zipped hooded sweatshirts are not part of the day to day uniform and can only be worn as part of outdoor PE kit or travelling to and from school and playtimes.

Please ensure that you put your child’s name in their school uniform. We already have brand new uniform items in the lost property box with no name on them.

~~Knives and Lunch Boxes~~

We have been notified by Mrs. Fitzpatrick (Mid-day Supervisor) that some pupils have brought metal knives into school in their lunch boxes. We do not allow pupils to bring in any type of knife into school. If they require anything cut up we can provide a knife with supervision.

~~Facebook - Stranger Danger~~

It has been brought to our attention that a rumour, that seems to have started on the playground, has made its way onto Facebook reporting that a strange man has been into The Dingle and that I called the police. This is totally untrue. There has not been any incident either in or outside of the school and the police certainly have not been called. I am sure this is a result of the letter sent earlier in the week regarding ‘stranger danger’.

Please can I ask parents not to use Facebook as a means to raise concerns about the school and to be wary of comments made in this way. If you are worried about something you have heard please contact the school office.

May I also remind parents that photographs taken at the school should under no circumstances be shared using Facebook or any other web site without the permission of the school and all the people on the photograph.

Thank you

Mr Cox

~~Parking~~

We have a few complaints from neighbours that parents are parking over drive ways. We are very lucky to have authorisation to park on Haslington Cricket Club’s car park. Please be considerate when parking your vehicle and use appropriate places.

~~Free School Meals~~

Even if your child has packed lunches, please claim for free school meals!

You will not be aware, but for every child eligible for free school meals, the school receives an additional £500 in funding from the Government to spend on the curriculum.

Many people do not realise that they could be eligible for claiming free school meals. You could be if you or your partner receives one of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income that does not exceed £16,040

It only takes a couple of minutes to find out if you are eligible:

to find out more.

At The DingleSchool we use a cashless system that ensures that no-one on free school meals is recognised

~~Football Round Up~~

It has been a busy end to the season. Years 3, 5 and 6 won their matches against PikemereSchool 5-4, 5-0 and 3-0; and year 4 were narrowly defeated. The Year 5 and 6 team also played St Annes drawing 2-2, Weston drawing 1-1 and Willaston who beat The Dingle 2-1.

In the Sandbach and Haslington schools tournament, our Year 5s and 6s have progressed to the final stages to be played after half term. The Dingle Bells, girls football team who play at The Soccer Centre have continued to train hard and have been successful in their matches too. Well done to all our children who have taken part.
