Describe
The resolution in a story is the solution to the central problem. What is the resolution in the book? What other resolutions could have been possible? / Create a report card for a character in the book. Give the character a grade on 5 of Kulp’s Character Keys (honesty, courage, responsibility, respect, positive attitude, kindness, making choices, and citizenship). Explain each grade with text evidence. / Is the book about people who are ordinary and just like any group of people you might know, or are the characters extraordinary in some way? Explain your answer. / Who in the story best demonstrates the quality of friendship?
Describe his/her character traits. Support your opinion with at least 3 pieces of text evidence.
What was least favorite part of the text and why? How could the author have made it more interesting for you? / Write a 1 page diary entry from the main character’s point of view. Be sure to structure your writing like a diary entry and use dates and paragraphs. / A metaphor compares two things using was or is. For example, work was a bear, meaning work was very hard; and jealousy is a razor, meaning that emotion can be hurtful.
Write a metaphor for a concept or idea in the book. Explain the metaphor’s meaning. Be sure to include sufficient text evidence to support your thinking. / Have you ever had an experience similar to one in the book? Describe what happened to you
Which character can you relate to the least? Give examples from the text and your life to explain how you are different. / Create a collage that represents the theme(s) in the book. Use clip art, magazines and newspaper words and pictures, or personal illustrations. / Some companies are beginning to package books with a toy, charm, or other item that relates to what is happening in the book. What item would you package with the book and why? / Describe one time when you disagreed with the actions of one of the characters. How do you think he/she should have acted?
