Following the success of the first Tattoo in September 2013, which hosted an audience in excess of 11,000, it has been confirmed that The Belfast Tattoo 2014 will take place at The Odyssey Arena in September 2014, and will now be an annual event for the City.

Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Arlene Foster said: “Last year’s inaugural Tattoo was a huge success, and attracted large numbers with a number of high quality performances. It set a very high standard, and I have no doubt that 2014 will see the bar raised higher again. Northern Ireland has many award winning bands so it is fitting that we now have our very own Tattoo. I am confident that this will become a significant event in our cultural calendar for years to come.”

The Belfast Tattoo 2014 will showcase some of the finest musicians and dancers from across Ulster and beyond, in a two hour show which will allow the Artistes and Bands to feature and showcase their talents.

The Musical Director for Pipes and Drums 2014 will be Derek Boyce. Derek has been a member of the Killeen Pipe Band and left in 2010 and played with Cullybackey Pipe Band for a year before joining St Laurence O’Toole in 2011. He is currently a member of Bleary & District Pipe Band.

As part of the Belfast Tattoo 2014, there will be a display of 30 Champion Drum Majors, under the control of Senior Drum Major Brian Wilson MBE. The 30 Champion Drum Majors, drawn from all levels across competition grades, will put on a display never before seen in Ulster.

The Band’s Director, Darío Nogueira, is the mastermind behind the band’s success. He is a bagpipe master, educated at the Real Banda De Gaitas de la Diputación de Orense (The Royal Pipe Band of The Council Of Orense). His musical and instrumental skills, his contagious confidence, his directive style and love for improvisation and his close and friendly relationship with the other band members have been instrumental in achieving the goals set by the band.
